  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
38' CONVERTIBLE-Series I (1968 - 1972)
I am under contract on my 1968 Hatteras.

A lender has questioned whether there is asbestos in the boat. Never heard of such of a thing.

Anybody???

That is an automatic question on older boats. The answer is always NO...
If you have original heat wraps on your original blanket covered exhaust risers, the answer is always NO.
If your purchase surveyor ask if you even think it may be original asbestos wraps on the exhaust, the answer is always NO.
If the bank, surveyor or insurance company gets a hint, even if not, the boat will need to be totaled.
The answer to any asbestos question is; surveyed well, NO asbestos.

The seller pisses you, your surveyor or your broker off.
Coffee was cold or wrong brand of donuts,,
Answer yes to all questions regarding asbestos if you did not purchase the boat......

You will hear the splatter from the fan, from miles away... when the insurance renewal (cancellation) comes up to the seller.

Well now we know for sure who not to deal with.

The only thing I have ever heard of was the original linoleum flooring if it even still has that. Could already be covered or removed.

The old exhaust wraps had asbestos in it. Some old heat shields did have asbestos backing.
Please take my poor humor aside and realize asbestos on a boat reported to a bank or insurance company is like crawling into a hornets nest.

It didn't appear to be and pretty much intact.

A few pieces at a time in the garbage. Took me 6 months to get rid of a large floor.
