I just found that the aft air handler in the salon was blowing out water when the fan was cranked up. 53 MY. Clearly there must be a clog. Where do I begin look to clear it?
Thanks

Drain pan on the AHU. Easy to clog up because such light flow.

Common issue. Problem is that almost every boat builder use to small drain hoses and don’t set them up with enough slope. On mine, the hose would run pretty flat to a hole going down to the sea chest in the master closet. Depending on installation the drain hose may be accessible so you can pull it off the pan and blow air or pressured the water to blow crap out.

Thanks. It just so happens I have a compressor sitting right in front of it. Wife is recovering chairs and needs the pneumatic stapler. I’ll try blowing it out in the morning. Been a long day😩

First try removing the discharge from a sea chest and suck it out with a shopvac. Much better to remove the crud than blow it back into the pan.

Once you get it clear, occasionally use 30% or 45% cleaning vinegar in the pan to dissolve as much gunk as possible.

Pascal , with your chiller system do you get as much/less/ or the same amount of condensation at the air handlers ?

Same amount. But being a new install i up sized the drain hoses as made sure they ran as vertical as possible. Also the flagship air handlers have pans with an incline so water doesn’t stagnate

Access to the drain hose under the pan is damn near impossible. I tracked down the exit point to the sea chest in the master shower behind the access panel. Naturally right behind the copper water lines. Laying on the shower door threshold isn’t very comfortable 😩. Had to cut the hose off the barb, put the shop vac on it and eventually got it flowing. Added some bleach water to the pan to confirm I was getting new flow. Had to patch in some additional hose to make up for the cut away portion. Running AC now to check flow from sea chest. I clearly need to clean coils too. That’s next weekend’s adventure.
Thanks for help.

Hello, just to make life easier I lay down an old life jacket on thresholds. It sure helps.
