Key word: fetch. Anyting over 1/4 to 1/2 is a death sentence

Yes most all those Stuart marinas are wide open with lots of fetch. Duration and fetch can make a normal ok mooring into a nightmare

This is from that boat sales and storage marina next to Dinner Key in Coconut Grove. There were several small CCs tied up near these two behemoths yet they came out unscathed. You would think a boat sales marina would be ground zero for professional knot tying in advance of a major storm.

Really dodged a bullet in Punta Gorda. After the eye hit Naples, we watched it creep almost straight north and a little east, away from the coast. By the time it reached Punta Gorda, the eye wall was just east of us, and we could see the rotation breaking up. Over the course of a few hours, the NHC flood forecast went from 6 ft above the road to 0. I've used the Windfinder app for several years, and have always thought it provides a very accurate forecast. Last night, it forecast steady wind of 67 mph, and gusts to 87 in Punta Gorda 3 hrs before the storm got here, while the Weather Channel was still predicting 125. I don't know what their model is, but it's pretty good.Tried to attach a picture of the boat at the dock (actually, above the dock), but I've lost my touch.

X2 in Punta Gorda. I underestimated the combination of super low tide and the line stretch so we got a little dock rash on port side of bow pulpit but that is it. Extremely lucky...

The only damage I had is a big palm that fell between our hoses. Broke into three peices and broke the pool pump next door .

The Diamond G, the 34 Hatt referenced a few pages back belongs to my cousin, Capt. Tyler Grove of Vero Beach. It's the same as the one his dad, Bill Grove, had. He has done most of the work himself. That boat inspired my dad to get his own Hatteras.

Happy to report that Fanfare came through Irma with no damage. Whew!

Again, fetch. This is grove harbor marina which along with its neighbor Montys, has zero protection to the E adn is wide open to biscayne bay. With just 20 kts, you get 1 footers in there. I used to run a 70 fotter docked there and even for only a 30kt tropical atorm i would move the boat These two sportfish arent the only casalties

This instagram page will you an iea of the scope of the damage, click load more at the bottom and just ingore the damn selfies

In the Dayton Beach, we faired extremely well tied up to a floating concrete dock (bow pointing south). Other than the boat being covered in salt, all appears to be in good order. We had significant winds out of the east, south and west. Also survived Hurricane Mathew (wind out of North) here without issue. Folks in the marina stated we had sustained winds of 70 and gusts over 100+. Marina survived well. Power was restored late Monday to the marina. Although I'm without power due to the breaker in the pedestal being damaged, thanks to Irma, and needs to be replaced. Tides are SUPER HIGH due to rain/river run off. We have been very fortunate and blessed. Out thoughts and prayers go out to all those who were impacted by Irma.

Thanks for posting an update. A few of us were really wondering about ya!

Man, those photos are sickening! Glad to hear no major damage for any HOF'ers to this point. I'm hoping it stays that way. I mentioned on the other thread I've still heard nothing about the 55 in Clearwater. Hoping no news is good news.

Last I heard from Scott aka boatsb, his dock is now underwater and the river is still rising.

Camachee Cove Marina in St. Augustine did well. I am not aware of any boats having any significant damage. the St. Augustine municipal marina did not do well. That seems to demonstrate Pascal's observation about fetch. Do you all think that in a couple of weeks it would be safe to travel North on the ICW? Wondering when the debris will settle down. You think if weather allowed I would be safer from a debris standpoint running outside to Charleston?

Also believe it or not apparently long boat key in Sarasota did OK and will be open for business. We are planning on staying there this winter and was pleasantly surprised. Saw a video on you tube about Boca Grande and it to looked surprisingly good.

We got lucky!! She was still where i left her tied when we got back on pine island yesterday!!!I pointed her bow out and put several lines on her to hopefully hold her away from sea wall. And it worked. Lost both wind shelds. But that might be a minor repair. Water was sucked out of bay during leading edge of storm so hopefully the props and rudders are Ok. Looks like i gained a tree. Back in my house with generator running. Just lost the roofover and insulation.but house and belongings were fine WE GOD LUCKY THANK GOD!!Don in Bokeelia

Here is a video from helicopter that show big overview of entire mess. A sailboat mast is leaning on the football goalpost. https://www.instagram.com/p/BY67L2BA1tB/?tagged=coconutgrove

The first pier with all th sunken boat is pier 1 at dinner key. Nobody made it on the north side, agsin totally exposed. They briefly focused no a hatt thats on pier 6 that was hit by a drifting sailboat. Boat is ok but his swim platform is gone

Most of the sailboats shown ashore by that school were on th outisde city mooring field. Many owners are trying to find their boats

That s waht left of a very nice cheoy lee MY which had been at dinner key for years

Two tee heads from ours

We just drove through the Moorings at Longboat Key and all the boats did fine. Lots of transient boats who must have decided it's a good hurricane hole, or at least an upgrade from their home port. We live here and had power throughout the storm, although we evacuated.
