just saw this on yacht world if anyone has interest. Here is a little info.

A doctor in Newbern NC ownes it he lives in the same neighborhood as Royce Angel one of the fine navel archetics at hatteras.The owners sun workes at Gregory pool the local cat dealer. He oversaw the repower which was done by Gregory pool. Its a grate boat and it is quick i think the speed numbers listed are under estimated. I have been seeing it around Morehead city for several years its clean. Suprized its for sale but i would guess the dock is like a lot of us aging out.
At first i thought it was over priced but take the c-18 in the mix it looks kinda workable. If you are in the market for a 50 you should take a look.
I DO NOT KNOW THE OWNER PERSONALLY OR HAVE ANY STAKE IN IT I JUST KNOW THE BOAT AND HAVE MET THE OWNERS THEY ARE GRATE PEOPLE.

Looks like it is very well maintained. I don't usually like that era with the white washed oak, but that one really does look nice inside.
 
Dangit... we just closed on our new boat last Monday. I guess that we should've waited. Oh well!

I agree Sky, I'm are darker wood kind of guy. Just looks richer. But this one is nice.
 
Nice looking boat but the white wash really hurts the value.
 
Agree on the interior. Well, you can't have everything. A good deal at the ask, seems to me.
 
Beautiful Boat. I'm normally not a big fan of the white washed wood interior either but this one doesn't look bad at all and is very nice. A very tasteful interior, nice exterior paint job and a great power package for this boat. There are 2 other 50C's with CAT 3412 that maybe a better overall deal though, even though I think the C-18's fit the 50C better.One is asking only $379K and the other $459. I don't know the boats or the condition but the pricing seems to be very fair.

Hattenuff, I think the owner is a member of the forum remember seing some post before the repower about the 50C
 
I'm with Tony. For the same money you can get a newer 3412 or 3406 boat with a much improved interior.
 
What's wrong with the light? I think it looks good! Different strokes for different folks.

It's amazing what 300-450 will buy these days. Kills the value of the older detroit powered boats.
 
True. Not everybody wants a floating English drawing room. While I have a love of the nature of wood and rich grains, dark paneling can make a space feel small especially without a lot of ambient light. It's not right for every for every circumstance and there's always that personal preference thing.

I wouldn't necessarily let it be a deal breaker.
 
After looking at the two boats posted this may be overpriced. The white or bleached out interior does have some draw backs. I like the dark wood but it looks like the white makes the inside look bigger. I guess knowing the boat makes me appreciate it a little more. During the winter it was kept in brackish water Newbern NC. I believe it has made a couple of trips to the Islands but not sure. The Doctor ran it and at a modest speed from what has been told to me.It was not fished very much. His son working for the local cat dealer had the work on the engines done by them. It has been kept up quite well. When the cats engines were put in it it had a keel walking issue or at least it would take a hard fall off keel at high speed. It being one of the first 50's. Hatteras was ask to get involved it was at that time being worked on at the mariner where i kept my 45c. The guys from Hatteras scratched their heads for a day or two finally they figured it out. With the original DD it would not plane out well. Hatteras put two wedges just forward of the trim tabs built in the bottom that fixed that problem. They were removed and the boat took off with the cats in it. They also put two one inch square pieces or starboard about 8 feet long just under the bow. Hatteras was funny as to where the sticks were lockated.I watched them draw lines along the hull for several hours. Their thanking was it was creating a suction and when the suction would brake it would pull to the suction side. It was quite a stir for a while. But Hatteras guys fixed it and all went well from there own. From what i understood the two sticks have fixed a lot of falling off keel issues. The boat looks grate in the water and running looks good. I would be proud to call it mine.

It is about 12:15 i am watching the local news there is a fire in down town Raleigh NC about one full block burned and it is still burning strong. Not under control yet per the TV guys.

I know I'm in the minority, but I love the washed oak as it definitely makes the boat feel larger. That's a pretty one for sure.

I believe Hatteras referred to the wood as white Ash, not Oak. While it looks OK, depending on an individual taste, it does take some maintenance to keep it looking good. Corners and other areas of wear look bad if not re-finished as a regular maintenance item. The darker Afromosia or Teak is much easier to maintain in good shape. A friend had a late 80's or early 90's 70 footer that he bought new and after a couple of years the white was worn off any areas of wear and it looked terrible. If any of this does not matter to a buyer that's fine so long as they are aware of it. Otherwise the boat looks great.

Four or five month season, in fresh water, and the rest of the time stored indoors... just beautiful. I like this interior much better than the white ash decor that the other one has. AND the preferred engines. A very choice item.
