I'm considering relocating our Marquipt stair mounts from the hull to the top or side of the toe rail. I believe I've seen pictures of this config before but cannot locate them on the forum. Any help would be appreciated.

Mine have a separate set of mounts, one on the hull, and one on the gunwale. Here is a photo with the ladder mounted in each location. On floating docks we use the top mount, and on fixed docks we use the hull mount (because the ladder tends to be too short at some high tides). This is why I'm looking for a 7 step marquipt to trade for my 6-step. Anyway, hope this helps...

I ve done this a few years ago. It s easier to put the pins in but most importantly it allows you to lift the stairs up vertically when needed. Ex when leaving the boat, or to keep it out of the neighbors way when sharing a narrow finger Downside is that if the pier is low the higher position may cause a problem

You don't even need the special Marquita fitting. I used SS Bimini top fitting and toggle nuts since there is no access under

This is great! Thanks Jerry B for the pics and explanation. Thanks also to Pascal for the comment.
