How on earth does a broker make mistakes like 12V71s at 375 hp?

Maybe they were detuned. I've seen qsm11s at 300 hp.

If the 12v is a natural it will be 370hp. It they are Turbo you will see 850 hp

Runnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn.

Pretty sure the 1271N's in that boat were rated at either 500 or 550. Who in their right mind would detune a 1271N?

Hp range you quotes is correct. May have been lower hp comercial versions.

As an answer to you question.

Who in their right mind owns a boat.

Is that us dollars or kangroo money. Joking aside i hate to see you do that i remember the excitement you had when the purchase was going down. I am sad for you Mate.

The only time you see going from turbo to natural are the guys converting a SF into a charter boat.
Burn less fuel, no turbos, no inter/aftercooler to clean, and the engine overhaul will probably outlast you.
Other than that situation I havent seem guys want to slow down.

That boat has 550HP 12V71Ns

Not true. A turbo can be more efficient and last a long time if run easy. Maintenance is not that bad on them in comparison with other brands. It's always nice to have the extra hp even if you don't regularly use it.

What rpm would be considered running easy?

At what rpm does the turbo kick in?

If I were to run below turbo rpm always, would that increase the time between overhauls? In other words, it would be like running an N engine?

Thanks,

Thanks,

Low rpm operation has been discussed in the past here. See posts by Brian Degulias (SP) and others. I do it routinely with just occasional higher rpm to burn off accumulated oil/carbon. I do add a cetane boost to the fuel and use 170 degree thermostats. 6V92TA, 425 hp.
