  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
36' CONVERTIBLE-Series II (1983 - 1987)
Tightened the bathroom window on my 1985 36 convertable and broke the plastic part that the wing nut is attached to. Will call Sam's to see if he has one but wanted to ask if anyone has replaced this part before. It has 18 screws holding it on. 2 wing nuts attached to the bottom and the window attached to the top with pins. The plastic just got brittle and too much torque when I tightened them caused them to shatter. Thanks in advance. Rick

SAMS probably has them; Fuller Brush Company made them and I purchased some from Fuller about 10 + years ago. Don't know if they still make them/have them in stock. I didn't know about SAMS then but Fuller had all the individual parts of the ports available, including screens. I bought two of what you need and screens for all ports.

Forgot to add - Get new Orings for all the ports while you are ordering. I bought those as well. They will help ensure good sealing without needing a lot of "torquing" down on the wing nuts - just barely snug will do it with new O-rings.

Two yrs ago Sam's and Fuller brush prices were the same. Get the O rings before you break off the rest of the plastic!

Thanks for everything. Will call SAMs first.

Please post a better picture of the break. Your description makes it sound like creep rupture which is scary because we probably all have it going

Bathroom??????wtf???

Here's another pic. Thanks guys.

Many thanks. It does seem like a brittle fracture as best I can tell. I`ll have a look at mine tomorrow, but there is sometimes no indication the fracture has started.
Is the pivot a part of the trim ring or the spigot?

I had the same problem with a portlight in the master head of my 48 MY about 10 years ago (or more).
Bought a couple of complete fuller port lights from Sam's and never replaced it with one of the new units. Lazy I
guess, but it seems to work with only one wing nut. Steve advised me to just change out the large "O" rings on all the other ports as a couple of them
were leaking a little. Well I did and have had no leaks at all since then. BTW, someone told me that the
gaskets ( 0 rings) can be pulled and re installed reversed. Probably worth a try in an emergency, but I
would think that after many years the rubber would probably be too hard to work with.

Walt, I just changed one in the forward room as you know. It still had stretch when I pulled the old one, but in an emergengy, I think I'd try some thick grease.

SAM's does have them. Also if you googled Hatteras parts there was one for the HEAD for sale there. Hope this helps.

Bathroom.

A place where people take baths.

It was early in the morning.. Forgive me please

Now if it's a transgender bathroom you might need a wing with no nuts

Is that like the Lions Den on I-10?? ykw

Maybe it is and that's why one broke off.

You never know.

I knew the bathroom reference wasn't going to slip by. My wife still puts clothes in the closets in the boys bedrooms. At least she knows the pump room isn't a laundry room and the ER isn't the basement.
