Thank you Jim. Happy Independence Day everyone!

I'm thinking of installing 100 or so gallons of new fuel and then seeing if it can be turned it noise without smoke.

Did you repower and not mention It? If you're going put it thru your 8v53's, there's gonna be smoke.

They're having boat races (boring little hydroplanes) at the city park downstream of my house and have the river closed to through traffic. I'm tempted to make an 85 MPH run through there with my go fast and see what happens. I'll either win the race or make a duck trooper's day... eventually.

Used to take the Hatt and watch, but they won't allow spectator boats anywhere near the course these days. Not really worth the effort anyway as it's not very competitive. Winning boat usually has two laps on the field which consists of 3-4 other boats in the heat. Fireworks on the 4th are always good though.

Given the current state of things, I'll just be happy if our country makes it through this celebration without something stupid happening.

No kidding. I had exactly the same thought this morning. Gave me chills.

Not a bit. I'll post pics of her running. My engines do not smoke except during acceleration for a few seconds. Randy has been aboard and can vouch for that.

Go for it fuels the cheapest thing that goes in the boat. I just spent $661 for hoses and that didn't include transmission fuel or clamps.and it didn't give me any pleasure at all

4 hours running from idle to on plane. A few seconds of light smoke during acceleration. Cleared immediately. No smoke much noise, less fuel.

A good time was had by all and we beat the weather by a whole 10 minutes.

Thanks Jim. We are at Hawks Cove past Magothy Narrows with 8-9 other MTOA couples. Cocktails, picnic, dingy tours cocktails, oh, did I say cocktails? Nice fireworks last night. More expected. Retuning to BYC Tues if current forecast holds. Happy 4th everyone.

The best part, I found a load of water in the OB tank. I sucked up 2+ quarts, sprayed an inch of carb cleaner into the small filter, got it started and all was good. :D

Was it rainwater, bad fuel or phase seperation from ethanol fuel?

I only run ethanol free for a reason. Keeps my carbs working better too.

I too only run ethanol free. I carry all the way from FL because I have no local source. I think is was rain water. The tank vent was open, but under a wide seat and I've never worried about it before, but we had a real bad rain. Still two quarts is a lot. Late yesterday we ran 6-7 miles some at WOT and all seems good. I'll add some Sea Foam as soon as I can get to a store.

Got a fifth on the third for the fourth........:p

Happy Independence Day everyone.

I think aviation fuel is free of ethanol. It is expensive, but in the amounts one would use for an outboard, it might be worth the trouble, if I understand you right.

I have found eFree it over on eastern shore in a few locations. This site is pretty good. None of the locations around Balt seem to sell it, although they are listed. Like you, I haul it up from NC by auto. Not the smartest thing I do, but beats constant carb problems.
