  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
43' DOUBLE CABIN (1970 - 1984)
Hello All,

I have taken delivery of a 1981 43" Hatteras Double Cabin. Hull #550. I selected a Hatteras after months of research and looking at boats. Also, I was able to learn a ton of information by reading the posts on this site everyday! I really appreciate the valuable information here.

I bought the boat from Eric Horst at Bayport Yachts and had a very good experience. Eric was great to deal with and I could not recommend him enough if you are looking for a boat or you want to sell yours. He has a lot of repeat customers!

I also am very grateful to Jim Rosenthal for his advice and suggestions during the whole process. The boat surveyed well (hull and engines) but it was obvious that the PO did not keep up with routine maintenance.

Now, on to the Insane Asylum!!!!

Congratulations and welcome to the Hatteras family. Nice to see you were able to find the right boat and deal in time for summer. Seems like yours was a relatively short search. Many here have been searching for a while.

Congrats and Welcome

But now we want Pictures :D

ME Too!!!! What power? And where's the damn pictures!!!!!

Welcome to the cult. Have some Koolaid!

It's a nice boat, and it's going to be even nicer when he's done with his list.

Congrats, and welcome aboard! Don't know if the PO told you, but ALL Hatteras's come with a lifetime guarantee! Yep, it's better than the guarantee on a Ginzu knife...... It's guaranteed that's something needs "fixen" !

Thanks everyone for the encouragement! This is not my first boat so I know what I am in for.<br><br>As Jim Rosenthal said to start from the bottom up and tend to the things first that can kill you. That is very true. I have Tom Hugg scheduled to work on the engines and I plan to haul out and replace the shaft logs (dripless like PSS or Tides). The bilge pumps need replacing, new batteries as well as well as some rewiring that needs to be done all for starters.<br><br>My admiral is on board with me with this and she loves the boat too. <br><br>Our most immediate goals now are to make the boat safer and <u><strong>more easily serviceble</strong></u>! <br><br><img src="http://www.samsmarine.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=20347&stc=1" attachmentid="20347" alt="" id="vbattach_20347" class="previewthumb"><img src="http://www.samsmarine.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=20346&stc=1" attachmentid="20346" alt="" id="vbattach_20346" class="previewthumb"><img src="http://www.samsmarine.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=20348&stc=1" attachmentid="20348" alt="" id="vbattach_20348" class="previewthumb"><br><br>More pics to follow!<br><br>Jonathan Brein<br>1981 43' DC<br>

Sorry about that...first time trying to upload photos! What I said was:

Thanks everyone for the encouragement! This is not my first boat so I know what I am in for.

As Jim Rosenthal said to start from the bottom up and tend to the things first that can kill you. That is very true. I have Tom Hugg scheduled to work on the engines and I plan to haul out and replace the shaft logs (dripless like PSS or Tides).

My admiral is on board with me with this and she loves the boat too.

Our most immediate goals now are to make the boat safer and more easily serviceble!

Very nice. Those classic lines will never look bad. Welcome.

What a nice older boat, she looks beautiful inside. Congrats and Welcome.

Thank you for all of the nice comments.

The boat will be kept in Portsmouth Virginia in the same marina as Michael & Cindy Ewing owners of "Southern Comfort" a 58 Yacht Fish.
