Hello ,I have a 1974 48 YachtFisherman. The HIN tag seems to be missing . Is there another place on the vessel where the HIN may be ?

Hin is 1976 and later.

You looking on the upper starboard side of the transom?

One other thing. My '74 58TC had a metal plate on the floor, forward and between the engines. It had the HIN on it. Might try checking there if you can't find it on the transom. Any chance your 48YF started out as a 44TC and somebody added a cockpit?

Crawl in the anchor locker and look in there. I have one on the transom, one in the anchor locker and one tag in the port engine room.

During the days of unfettered confiscation in Fla Bob Roscioli had a 53c that was confiscated by the BSO Broward sheriffs office for having the HIN filled in with paint and not readable. I don't believe he ever got it back.

72 is right. Crafts disease.

Thought it was 73
For all intents and purposes, it was. December of 1972 is when HIN's came to be, but anything built in late '72 would have been sold as a '73. Still holds true today that the HIN is the date of manufacture which may not match the year model of the boat.

Thanks folks I'll try these other spots . And yes I have already looked on the stbd transom .

Is your boat documented? It may appear in the CG files. Not the same as having it right in front of you, but maybe better than nothing.
