Big bill
what was your solution or did you just stick with the regular bulbs?

How can the starboard side be wired wrong when the regular 12v bulbs work?

Diodes only flow current in one direction. A conventional bulb filament will flow current either way.

LED's only work with positive going to one particular side and negative to the other, if you get it the wrong way round they just don't come on, an incandescent bulb doesn't care which way round the electricity flows and will light either way...

So... normal incandescent bulbs work fine and the terminals within the light fitting are the wrong way round for LED's....

Should be a simple fix of finding the feeds to that bunch of lights at the distribution board and swapping them around, then all bulbs will work....

Good luck...

oooops sorry, already answered.... I didn't notice the third page....

i left the original bulb, didn't know the fix so i was puzzled. i'll get back to that later.

On a 32 volt boat, some of the 120 volt AC LED bulbs seem to work in the 32 volt dc fixtures and others don't. Somebody in the forum had recommended the 'flat' Phillips LED bulbs but they don't seem to work in my 32 volt sockets. Most of the CREE bulbs do work just fine, but most of the Phillips LED bulbs I've tried don't work.

I suspect this must have something to do with the AC->DC converter circuitry in the base of these bulbs. (which isn't really needed, for 32 volt DC work, but must, at least, pass the DC to the LEDs).

I'll try and compose a list of 120 volt AC LED bulbs that work with 32 volts DC, but does anybody have any updates on their experiences with this?

And there are some LED's that will take up to 40 volts DC inputs.

I got my 32VDC bulbs from 12vmonster.com
They have a flat, all LED's on one side.
Edison screw that fits my overhead fixtures with the flat lens. Six pack for around 50 bucks.
I live aboard lights on most of the day in companionway. Installed for 3 months now without issues.
No more warm spots in deckhouse floor that I got with incandescent bulbs.
