How are these not your normal 12v-71s?

Well, for one thing, they're not leaking oil.

Pretty sure that the same boat that was for sale back when I bought my boat. I don't remember the engines being built to 900HP and definitely not those performance numbers. It was a tough sell then and the last I recall she was down in the mid 200K range. She's definitely a looker both inside and out. No doubt a ton of money was spent on her.

Maybe they haven't filled them up yet. Like my old English motorcycles, when they stopped leaking oil they were empty. LOL

I'll pay that one Jim. I have a classic English sports car, same deal! No oil leaks means time to refill her!

I see a trend here, the Rolls Royce Tay's on the old GIV always had oil dripping from the bottom cowl. But this 53 is beautiful, not sure how happy those 12v71's will be pumped up to 900+hp😳

Never a fan of mechanical things British, I'm reminded of a quote from the TV show Top Gear where they're reviewing some English Formula 1 type street car and ask if it is well built, or is it "Another typically British badly executed good idea." That about summed up my experiences with them.

Having owned a few British things that supposedly moved under their own power, I agree. But don't forget, they designed and built virtually all of the GT40. It had an American engine, but for the 1966, 1968, and 1969 Le Mans winners, everything else except the gearbox was English. They won a lot of races with those cars.

When it comes to the classic sports, you cannot go past English convertibles, in spite of their oil leaks. There is just something unique about an Austin Healey, Jaguars XK 120, 140, 150 and the e types.

I know I've done this before, but for those who are new here....

Q: Why do the English drink warm beer?

A: Lucas refrigerators.

Yes, and Lucas headlight switches, they have three settings: off, dim, and flicker.

Lucas
The prince of darkness.

Why most early English cars were low mileage.....

What he said....

...the real achievement of Italian sports cars is making them unreliable without having to use Lucas electrics in them....
