1978 43' Hatteras double cabin aft deck

I am looking at a 1978 Hatteras 43' Double Cabin. It has an enclosed fiberglass aft deck. No
isinglass or canvas. It has sliding plexiglass windows and thick 1/2") plexiglass (or maybe lexan)
doors. Is this a common feature for this yacht or was it a special order when the boat was built?
I'm wondering if I have found something unique.

Most likely it was done after it left the factory. There are many variations of how owners/yards have enclosed the aft decks of these boats. Post some pics to get a better assesment of what it is and how it was done.

Keep in mind that "something unique" often means "nobody wants to buy it"

I have a 2002 43dc that also has thick lexan doors on the bridge deck

Are you sure the doors are Lexan? It is not only more $$ than acrylic, but doesn't weather as well. Think about the hazy head lamps since glass went out of vogue.

Chris Craft 501's (nice boat) had the built in rigid plastic (?) glass sliders. That is about the only one I've seen like that. All 43 DCFB were canvas/flex plastic that I've seen.
