8V71N Air Filter

Our 1972 Hatt has 8V71N's. We have owned it for a year now and we were doing some PM work. Oil and filter changes etc.. We went to change the air filters and could not find where they are located. What i thougt was the air filters was the air silencers. Any help with my stupidity would be greatly appreciated.

Yep, not air filters, those are silencers, no air filters as such on the naturals, so, keep your engine room clean of dust, loose dirt , etc etc..a piece of lint from laundry can wreck an engine..

The air filter is like a shop vac filter. Foam that goes over the silencers

Yes. On my 8v53's I use a napa one but detroit sells them.

The Detroit description may be different but napa call it a foam intake air filter.

Sure, here's the DD part number for the foam that DD calls an element. 06422214. A whopping 11.28 each.

DD tells me those are for turbo applications, new silencer inserts are 200.00 ea.. approx part # M000122
