  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
43' DOUBLE CABIN (1970 - 1984)
We are moving our 43DC from Hilton Head to Panama City and want to do it in two parts.

We are taking 8 days for the first part and looking for somewhere inexpensive to leave it for a month.

We are looking for suggestions based on actual experience. We are thinking anywhere between Stuart and Ft Meyers.

Let's hear what you have to say!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ft. Myers Yacht Basin. Great people, great location, nearby airport and $13.75/ft by the month.

I am currently located in Stuart, actually around the corner from Stuart in Manatee Pocket (Mariners Cay Marina) and I wouldnt have a bit of a problem leaving our boat here unattended. Manatee Pocket is a protected cove as well as a no wake zone. We've been here for a couple weeks and will stay another 2 weeks. Mariners Cay Marina is a gated community so no rifrafe around. There's lots of livaboards here to check on your boat as well as good marina staff. The marina is very small (prolly 20 boats) so people look out for each other. Sounds like a commercial for this place. Well, its hard to get any better. I think they are around 14/ft. You might find cheaper but it would be a hard find in this area.

I would check Active Captain for area marinas.

I spend a lot of time on Active Captain. If you read 10 reviews, 8 of them will be pretty accurate.

If your looking to leave it in the Fort Myers area you should take a look at Tarpon Point Marina. I keep my boat there and they have great security, even though they really don't need it! Their rates are very reasonable and very nice staff. Rick is the harbor master and a great guy. Their phone number is 239-549-4900 all new decking on docks with new electrical pedestals. They are currently working on upgrading the electrical and adding new floating docks in front of the hotel for bigger yachts! They have gas, diesel and pump out all available. Nice place...good luck!

Thanks to all who have responded !

Greg I really want to see your boat!

Pate I am very familiar with the pocket I had a boat in the rack at Pirates cove for two years.

Decisions, Decisions !

Mine is there now in the hurricane building until November. Not cheap, but very impressive operation.
