It's four degrees in Annapolis this morning. Sunny, but that won't help much. Tomorrow we get some relief from the cold. It's worse in the Midwest and New England; evidently it's thirty below in Milwaukee, or some similar awful number. There was an interview on radio yesterday with a bike messenger of all things, in Milwaukee, who is still on the job- amazing.

Bundle up everyone, and remember this doesn't last forever.

Not much different up here. It was 2 here at 6AM. It got up to a balmy 5 once the sun came up but the temps are now falling again and we're back down to 2. My mom is up in central NY and it was the same up there but now they're down to -2. They've already got 2ft of snow and are expecting as much as 5ft total from this storm! Three more months to spring launch!

It measured 25 degrees IN my salon this morning and that's with the heat going. Looks like the forward faucets were frozen when I got up but the others looked ok. For some reason I also lost hot water. I hope there's no permanent damage. Opened the rest of the faucets and unplugged the water pump before leaving for work this morning.

If the water is running but not hot, you may have tripped a breaker. If the boat gets plenty of sunlight you should be OK durring the day. Keep all the blinds and curtains opened. The sea water should be warm enough to warm the hull and help keep things from freezing.

I almost turned on the heat this morning...

Darn I have to roll a coat of epoxy and I may have to wait till this afternoon. Winter sucks.

:)

45 with 20 mph N winds. We were on the docks at 7:30 this morning to help friends off. Cold hands. It reminded us why we live in Florida.

17 in Destin this morning at 06:00. Up to 23 now. I am heading down to the boat to see how things survived. We did get the oil filled radiator heater yesterday, so we should be OK.

It was 13 below when we left Illinois on Friday. Even 17 is better than that.

Got down to 47 in the Palm Beaches this morning. 57 now and the heat is STILL ON! Hopefully we'll be back to 70 tomorrow. South Florida convenience store clerks are all on edge. Usually, if it's wearing a ski mask...it's a Robbery!

This seems to fit this thread got a email from Marinaire today guess some may not know this but I will pass it on this goes for all units!

Never got one from Cruise air :p

IMPORTANT Reminder to all Customers

Reverse cycle heat pump marine air conditioners will not work once the water temperature is too cold.
Therefore, DO NOT operate the units at heating, cooling, auto or dehumidification modes once the water temperature is below 40 degree Fahrenheit (or 5 degree Celsius)
Operating the units at heating mode once the water temperature is below 40 F will cause irreparable damages. The water will freeze inside the tube, expand and crack the coil.
Additionally, once the ambient temperature ( air temperature) gets below 35 , The unit should not be operated at any mode (Cooling, heating, dehumidification or auto mode) . The air conditioning unit should be winterized immediately

WINTERIZING THE AIR MARINE AIR CONDITIONER
To avoid any freezing during winter, winterization is necessary. Do not leave sea water, fresh water or
air in the system . Fill antifreeze solution though the intake, strainer, pump and coil and water outlet
(entire system)

! Warning: Collect all discharged liquids and recycle or dispose of in a proper manner.

Please feel free to contact us for any question.

I had the same issue. Pretty sure you have a frozen intake line. I believe pressurized cold water coming in is what pushes hot water out. Can someone confirm that? I had no incoming water to my heads either. I opened a panel behind my head and placed a 75 watt work light there. Didn't take long to thaw.

Gonna be tough to stay warm in Easton, Maryland tonight if you heat with natural gas. The town owned "not for profit" (ROFLMAO) public utility is shutting the natural gas off to everyone. Some lame explanation about it being weather related. Heads up came at 6:24 PM tonight via a recorded phone message. They did post a non-committal message on their facebook page 4 hours earlier which gave no details. Great, huh?

Its 65 degrees and wind howling in Green Turtle Cay.

I wish you were kidding, but I suspect you are not. What a bunch of jackasses. Shutting the gas flow off? That's what the Russians do to punish their so-called allies.

"Stranded in the Bahamas" is not going to get you sympathy.

FYI ITS ABOUT 45 HERE. Had to put on a jacket.

It was 2 degrees outside this morning when I awoke, but inside was a balmy 45. Nice hot shower this morning and broke the world speed record for dressing. Now it's 15 out and the master is up to 50. I can see my breath throughout the boat. Whose idea was it to live aboard a boat? LOL. I always love a challenge but this is cold. Thank God for electric blankets.

Its a two Goombay night.

Don't forget, pipes break after they thaw no leaks when frozen, if the nat gas is a coal byproduct it may be "wet gas" hence the turn off...have not seen for 40 yrs

Was 8 degrees when I landed in Tulsa last night...

The good news is, it was 40 below when I left Wyoming.

I came to check on the Roamer. It was 44 inside and 15 outside (Chattanooga). My coldest recorded temp was 34 degrees in the top of the pilot house. That was with a 15+knot wind blowing 6 degree air on the boat. I left the block heaters on, 3 oil filled heaters and 1 Eden Pure on med. Everything is happy so I am heading down to the master for a worry free sleep!
