does anyone have a hard time swinging the davit back in with the weight of the tender hanging on it? without my tender on the boom it swings easily. pushing the tender out over the water is easier due to leverage, but pulling it back in is the issue , I was thinking about useing a block and tackle, anyone else haveing any issues?

I have to use a block and tackle, 4:1 works great. I also keep it from swinging out more than about 45 degrees only enough to clear the transom and port side.

I have the same problem. My tender is a 13' Whaler Sport w/a 40hp Honda, probably overkill for our 54MY. The block and tackle or come along works, but I've been thinking about using a small portable electric winch. I could hook that to one of the tie-down loops. Has anyone tried this?

Not sure how you deploy/recover your dink but to store ours, we lead it around the side using the lines that are attached to the dink's bow and one of the eyes on the transom. As we lift the dink up, we use the lines to keep the dink parallel with the side of the boat. When it is above the flybridge deck I use the line attached to the bow to just pull it over to it's cradle and then lower it. It's an easy one-person job in our configuration. I never actually push/pull the windlass itself, just the dink so there is plenty of leverage - at least with our dink and davit. But obviously the weight of the dink will determine how easy it is to swing the davit.

I've also had difficulty swinging the davit back under load -- especially with the boat heeling over. I tried a block, but abandoned it because I wasn't comfortable with the angles. It appeared too low and was pulling down and over and caused the davit to creak a little. Went back to doing it manually, but I'm definitely one wrong step away from flying off the opposite side. I'm going to try and service the davit this winter and see if some new grease will help.

Depends on several factors, yours is one of the few that doesn't have the problem decribed by the OP and others. We had the same problem as the OP with our Whaler and, to a lesser extent, with our RIB. What we were able to do to remedy the problem was to swing the boat forward and bring it aboard that way, rather than aft - over the transom. Seems the center of gravity was forward so the effort to board the boat was minimal. We were able to do this by adjusting the angle of the davit [Marquipt] and shortening the lifting straps so as to clear the railing around the bridge seating [antennas and bimini straps had to be lowered or out of the way]. Before we learned how to do that we tried the use of a come-along [ratcheted cable puller] which was a PITA, but it got us over the hump.

I had same issue as OP, I phone the manufacturer and they said there should be a delrin plastic "washer/shim"( I am not sure of term he used) on the top of the pipe to make movement more smooth. He stated they sell replacement part if I could find serial number. We just chose to build a new davit off the transom.

I mounted an outboard motor bracket on the upper deck, then mounted an electric winch to that, pulls it in really well, the key is to get the location of the winch correct due to shifting angle when retrieving. That brings it in 85 % of the way, then it's easy from there. It's a 13 whaler sport with a 40 merc 4 stroke.

I had my simple pipe davit made in two parts so I can store it within the RIB when not in use. This means I regularly have the opportunity to use the 'Super Lube' grease supplied with the davit on it's PTFE type bearings within the deck standpipe. Lateral movement is much easier afterwards.
I don't know if these bearings are common on davits or even if the larger davits could be lifted out to grease them but might help if you can.
