The frame is 1.2 mm sapele plywood and the doors are 1/2" cast acrylic sheet. Having learned from the first door I am working on the second and will post some pictures of building version two.

I need to replace both of my wing doors and frames and like what you did..... So what was the final time and $$ did it take.....

I work most boat projects a few hours at a time and can only guess re total time spent.
I will describe the process and materials.
Use table saw to rip lengths of 1/2 inch plywood for frames. Assemble two frame sections and two brackets all with epoxy and 18 ga nail gun. Sand and paint.

Cut pieces of 1/2" plexiglass. Attach ss piano hinge. Cut and varnish plywood and acrylic trim strips. Install handle.

Estimate 30 hours.

Materials
2 sheets plywood. $160. 1088 meranti
Acrylic. $200
Hinges. $200
Latches. $100
Epoxy, paint etc. $80

If I did it over I would probably build wooden frames with 1/8" acrylic inserts.

I spont a lot of additional time figuring layout which you could avoid.

Let me know if I can be of help.

Regards

Nicely Done! I always thought the acrylic doors were way more expensive then that.

Good idea with the latch way up above to make sure the doors stay closed. I did same thing on mine so my kids don't go wondering out on their own.

re acrylic, see "pop-displays" on ebay.
the price noted is my recollection.

I have looked at 'shower doors' for the install, but haven't found any that would work in the salt water environment we live in......

My PO installed solid acrylic doors with out a frame. Hinges are screwed into the door edge. I like the look and no extra wood to maintain. I posted pics some time back.

My advice on wing doors?

Measure the required opening and add to it the width of your pinky finger. Oh yeah, don't forget to pad the door frame. :)
