Hatteras Model
36' CONVERTIBLE-Series I (1969 -1977)
I decided to get tickets to see Steely Dan, who are on tour beginning in July. I think most Dan fans are in the same age bracket as a lot of Hatteras Yacht owners. They are in Portsmouth, VA, on August 1, and up here at the Post Pavilion on August 2nd.

If you've never seen them, it's worth going. It is not cheap, with the usual parking headaches etc, I am sure, but if you grew up on their music (I did), seeing them play their tunes live is a huge thrill. The studio jazz musicians who tour with them are first-class- they have always gotten the best guys in the business to record and tour with them, and this year is no exception. A few years ago the drummer on their tour was Dennis Chambers, and if you ever have a chance to see him, again, don't miss it. He's another jazz magician...

We don't have a lot of threads about music on this site, but I decided this was worth posting...

Love Steely Dan! I also grew up listening to them. Real music from real musicians unlike the crap there is today...

I saw Steely Dan last summer at the Wharf's outdoor Aphitheater. What a great show! He brought a kid on stage that he had been teaching guitar to as he is a big supporter of music classes for kids, etc. What a great group and a great time. ENJOY!

There are some interesting videos on YouTube, about the making of their album "Aja", where they interview some of the studio musicians that played with the band in those days. which would be fun to watch just by itself- but they guys they are interviewing!!- Larry Carlton, Wayne Shorter, Bernard Purdie...the list goes on and on. They have always had the best players on their records. Like Joey DeFrancesco says," now we're gonna have some REAL fun!"

Thought that was Steve Miller (along with Peter Frampton). Concert was hot as hell but a blast! They are going to be at the Wharf Aug 21. Another hot one! Hope to be there.

"Please take me along when you slide on down,
The Cuervo Gold / The fine Colombian make tonight a wonderful thing ........
Say it again"

Epic lyrics of a special musical era.

Remember them well...."XXxxMmmmm, No static at alllllll...." No wait, that's FMmmm. LOLim more of a James Taylor fan, still see all of his concerts, but since Steely is close i may try to snag a couple of tickets.

Thanks for the reminder Jim!

Yes, we did see the Steve Miller band (with Peter Frampton opening) with you and your beautiful bride. It was a different weekend that Steely Dan played that you guys missed. Lots of good concerts at that venue!

We will be heading back from Florida at the end of July or early August. Not sure if we will be there Aug 21 but if we are, COUNT US IN! :)
