I think Trident is a class of submarines, not a builder of same.

Does it really matter what the name brand is on your boat as long as you are a boater and enjoy the Hatteras quality? If you can only afford a Carver or Bayliner... bring it! If you can afford a vessel that shines out even above the Hatt quality, GOOD FOR YOU and bring it and I'll drink on your aft deck!

Jealousy is a bad thing and rears its ugly head in so many places... Sad but true...

So you think jealousy is the reason behind Zero Balance's reasoning about voting eligibility?

I can only speak for myself, but if all I'm interested in is seeing a bunch of Hatt's, I'll stick with going to boat shows. For me, it's about meeting in person those I've conversed with on this forum, most of whom naturally are Hatteras owners. Outside that, it's always interesting to see what other fellow owners have done with their older boats.

I wasn't referring to "voting rights"... I was speaking in general terms regarding guys from this forum getting together to enjoy our boats.

Seems to me like anyone on OUR forum should feel more than welcome to attend; as well as anyone else who shares the joy of boating. IF I go... does that mean I can't bring my friend and his wife because they don't own a Hatteras? The whole thing is just stupid! Why someone has a hard on for one of the nicest and knowledgable guys on our forum is bey

Just had to stick my nose in didn't I......HOF..... Hatteras Owners Forum set up under Sams Marine , if not careful you will have to welcome all boat owners to the forum and change the name to the typical "cruisers net" or some such other name, I would suggest if a non Hatteras owner wanted to visit a Hatteras "get together" then permission should be asked first. Just my 2c

Jesus guys, how far out of context can you take this thing? Nobody to my knowledge ever suggested that non-Hatteras owners couldn't attend or show up in whatever boat they wanted. It was about who should/could vote on a destination. Not sure why somebody felt the need to take that personally, but it is what it is.

I just got around to watching the video Randy posted and perhaps it helps puts some of this exchange in context for me.

Simply reading the posts can be misleading regarding the authors and the forum. The common thread on the forum is a devotion to old boats with a name and heritage they are rightfully proud of.

On the other hand there is an aversion to false pride, coupled with a sense of humor regarding the Hatteras "Mystique". Reminds me of one of my friends T-shirts which reads, "Ole Miss, we're not snobs, we're just better than you."
And you can joke about it.

Forums and posting, are intimidating, if you are not used to it. I've spend a lot of time saying and writing (and receiving) things that are often critical of the person on the other side of the issue, and I still felt some discomfort with Randy and Byron's exchanges. I know both of them but was not always sure what was going on and wondered how it would be at the rendezvou with them there together after a beer or 12. I know better, but you can get caught up in the back and forth.

In any case, you do not need to worry about fights or snobbery at the rendezvou. It is a good time with nice people and boats, whether you come in a Viking, Trident, Hatteras or Honda.

It seems that some have much more courage when sitting behind a keyboard than when they actually meet in person.

Yeah, you were pretty subdued in Miami. :D

Thirdhatt, please do not but a fourth Hatt. I have never done one of these events and the reason why is ??? Look in the mirror.

LOL, why in the world would you concern yourself with what brand boat I have? Do we know each other or have we ever spoken before? If you have an issue with me, you can PM me and tell me all about it if you like. If you choose to avoid a gathering with 80+ like minded folks because you may have an issue with one person, it is you who loses out on a great time.

Why you do or don't do an event is totally up to you but everyone that has attended an event around here has had a great time. Please don't try to take that away from those who choose to participate and enjoy each other's company and boats as we have and will continue to do.

Have a nice day! :)

How would you know? You were "resting your eyes" most of the time. :D
I was pacing myself in every category except one. Had it not been for that one oversight, it would have been me and you and keyboards at fifty paces. :D

Byron, how much deeper are you going to dig that hole? I must admit, your last post gave me the first chuckle of the day with you suggesting PM's to someone (another pesky Hatteras owner) who voiced his opinion.

Oh yeah... :)

Randy, I don't know what "hole" you are referring to, nor do I care. Someone who to my knowledge I have never interacted with made a negative comment about me and I simply asked him to PM me if he chose to elaborate. Nothing wrong with that. I knew that you would love the PM suggestion and as always, I am pleased to know that I can help you find a way to laugh.

In the interest of moving forward, I know you must have the last word so go ahead and respond with another crack so that you may have your last word and feel better about yourself. :)

Guys isn't this getting a bit ridiculous? I really don't care if a HOFer owns a Hatt or not. Most of us do or did at one time. Those who don't are part of this forum as well. I'm not picking sides here and I know there's some history as well but ThirdHatt was a Hatteras owner for many years. I almost became a Viking owner and would hope I was still welcome on this site. No matter what I own, even if I am boatless, I will always be a Hatteras guy. There are a lot of different people on this site. We come from different parts of the country, different backgrounds, age groups, income levels, political ideologies (let's not go there) etc. Chances of each of us all liking every member here is slim. No reason not to be civil to each other and enjoy what you can from the forum and all its members. "Can't we all just get along?" :)

Just lay there quietly Rodney and it will be OK.
