Yesterday, in San Miguel de Allende, we were at a little shop. In the back was an old GE fridge like this one (this is a pic from the internet but it is the exact same model) http://susanthegreat.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/1934-ge-fridge-small.jpg
It was working just fine, keeping bottled water and cokes good and cold. My wife, who speaks spanish quite well, asked (at my request) if it had ever been repaired. The answer was, "No, my grandparents bought it and it has been here since the 1930's."
I wonder if any fridge made today will still be working in 70 years? The new one installed in our boat by the PO in 1997 failed in 2005!
