Who care's what you call it didn't you see the Kegerator :D

Byron I sure due hope you put some Real Good beer in that and none of that Light Fake beer crap ;)

Something for everyone. It reminds me of that Heineken beer commercial where the women are screaming about all of the shoes in her closet and the men are cheering about the beer vault.

Byron's got the kegerator for the men and that great walk-in closet for the women.

That sure does look like a Cheoy Lee. Nothing wrong with that of course as Fexas designed those too, but what brand of boat is this one referred to as being?

Actually, you've got that backwards. The late 1990's + Cheoy Lee's tried to look like this boat. The owner was contacted by Cheoy Lee and offered $250,000 to purchase the design, but he declined. He liked having an original, one of a kind boat. The owner told me that unfortunately Cheoy Lee did still manage to steal some of the design cues and implement them in their production boats.

The "brand", or yard that built it is Trident.

There are MANY differences between this full custom built-in-America Trident and a regular production built-in-Taiwan Cheoy Lee. The only real similarity is that they were both designed by Tom Fexas. This boat had a very heavy layup schedule for the fiberglass, the entire topside was built in ONE PIECE, which is extremely expensive to do but adds incredible strength. Also, this hull was built with a male mold, so not only does it come out with near perfect smoothness needing little or no fairing, but the mold is destroyed in the process ensuring that there will never be any duplicates of the design.

Every step of the build was engineered by the best people in their respective fields. The hull-to-deck joint is not just glued, not just bolted, not just laminated, BUT ALL THREE! Now you can begin to get the idea of how a full custom money-is-no-object build differs from a production boat where every penny must be accounted for and saved wherever possible.

So who's gonna spill the beans and tell us how much she went for? Just curious of course given how depressed this market is.

Well, she hit the market at $1.95M and has steadily dropped due to the depressed market. Once the price hit $990k, I sprang into action as it was within striking distance.

Now you know why I sold the 58YF so quickly. I had MOTIVATION!!! :)

Yeah, she looks like a lot of boat for the money, but I wasn't aware of the chronology where Cheoy Lee was concerned. I've never heard of Trident (not that this means anything of course), but Cheoy Lee has been around for quite some time.

So is there a TOF (Trident Owner's Forum) out there? This might be your big chance. :)

You are correct that Chey Lee has been around for a long time and they are one of the more respected yards in Taiwan. Tom Fexas designed over 1,000 boats before he passed on in 2006, ranging mostly from 50-160' built by yards such as Burger, Palmer Johnson, Derektor, Cheoy Lee, etc. His masterpieces are his full custom builds.

Unfortunately there is no TOF, but I like the way you think! I will stay active on here with all my HOF friends as luckily you do not have to own a HAtteras to be a member here. You can't get rid of me that easily Randy!

Hatteras will always be my favorite boat brand as that is all I knew since the 1990's. Hatteras is what taught me what a true high quality, American made production boat should be. That is one of the disadvantages of a custom boat, you don't get the support of thousands of other boat owners with boats just like yours. There will certainly be a learning curve for me, but I plan to enjoy every minute!

Now why would I want to get rid of you Byron? :)

Sweet ride, Byron!!! When do I get to go for a ride??? :D

I had lunch at Pelican Landing at Pier 66 the other day and your new boat cruised past while I was there. I recognized the boat as I had spoken to the listing broker about her some time back. I speculated when I saw her that perhaps a sea trial was under way.

Nice boat! Good luck with her.

BigBill,
Check out page 1 of all these posts...I ASKED then to be the captain...You didn't ask till page 4...I GET DIBS.........

TOO COOL! Your speculation was spot-on. That would have been either Tuesday of last week when we went out for the engine seatrial or on Friday when we went offshore to close. We did the hull survey/seatrial/haulout the week before Christmas.

I'll be down here for another week or so changing oil & filters and getting her ship-shape for the run home to Louisiana.

This is what the wake looked like off Ft. Lauderdale Beach last week @ 23kts! :)

BEAUTIFUL, comes to mind.

well jaxfishgyd and bigbill are volunteering to be captain so you can enjoy the ride.

While you are Captaining your new vessel, I'll volunteer to be your deckhand!!
I would'nt want the Captain to have to run from the pilots station to bow or stern to throw a line...

P.S. For what its worth, I've decked for Bigbill for years, WE make a pretty good team!!!

BEAUTIFUL, CONGRATS BYRON AND MELISSA

Sorry to burst your bubble, but I asked before this thread was even started. (Lets just say that I had a little "insider information")

Hey Mario, she was built for the Bahamas with a max of 4'6" draft at full load (2450 gal fuel, 500 gal water, 200 gal holding tank). The owner was building his dream house in the Bahamas and actually used this boat to power the construction of his house! There are two 30kw Northern Lights gensets on board (John Deere 4-cylinder normally aspirated 1200rpm engines) and one would power the boat and there is a shorepower connection on the aft deck that is for sending power off the boat which he used to build his house.

Just think, if any of my friends have genny problems while we're rafted up, I can offer them up to 100A service!

I really don't have any good engine room pics, but here is what was in the listing for the boat. What I really love is that both engine room accesses are OUTSIDE of the boat, so I do not have to lug dirty oil or parts through the interior of the boat. The genny room is all the way aft, then forward of that is the engine room.

I ALWAYS have generator problems. and I know EVERYTHING about the Bahamas. No point in going to Louisiana at this time of year. This is a match made in Heaven! Let's go SOUTH!! Eagerly await your reply.

Here's a pic of one of the guest heads. They are pretty cool with an A/C vent in each one and different Italian porcelin sinks in each:
