Just in case ya ferget how to double clutch that mouse thingy, this is the LNM pdf...

I know as a prudent mariner you carry the current USCG light list right?
;-)) ws
Yep, I've got the light list down pat. Lemme see, there's Bud light, Coors light, Michelob light... I'll have to refer to the chart as those are all that come to mind.

Thanks for the linkx Willie, it's going to be good to finally meet you in person.

There is another place you could stop about 12 miles north of Tarpon Springs, is Hudson channel, straight and well marked it dead ends at port hudson marina. That said you do need at least 1/2 tide to feel good about the depth. Just another option.

Hey, I can do MGD when it's free, but I'm almost afraid to ask what a spliff is. Single Pretty Limber Interesting Fun Female?

I crewed on a 53C a few years back. Left Panama City at 5am got to Fort Meyers Muni 9pm burned 1100 gallons of diesel. 12-71s at 2100 RPMs 20 knots, a long day.

1100 gallons huh? Not trying to be a smartass, but how much extra fuel did you have to pack on? Best I remember, a 53C holds 825 gallons of fuel. How far is it from Ft Myers to PC?

I can relate to a long "day" as it took me and Steve H. about 30 hours to run from Clearwater to PC a couple of years ago. Needless to say, we weren't running 2,100 or 20 knots. That was about 250 miles as I recall, but we didn't exactly run a straight course.

Is that the channel that comes in to the south/behind Anclote Key?

I ran my 58 in there but couldn't remember the name of the inlet. I don't remember the name of the place, but there was a commercial fuel dock to starboard coming in that had really good prices on fuel. Too bad they were closed when I came in, otherwise my "Maiden Voyage From Hell" thread would read a lot differently. :(

Actually a 53C does hold 1100 gals, 400 in the bow, 350 mid and 350 aft, great range at 9.5knts.

Ft. Meyers to Clearwater. If you have early issues come in Boca Grande to Gasparilla Marina or to Sarasota via Venice Inlet. Which 55' are you taking? I ask because our past 55' was/is located in Ft Meyers --- SCALAWAG an 18kt cruise.

Man, am I EVER familiar with Gasparilla Marina. :D

I lived in Venice in another life, so I'm very familiar with the ICW and coastal water in that area, but thanks for your input. As for which 55 we're taking, I guess we'll take whichever one has the keys in it. Seriously, I have little info on the 55C in question. Did you sell your's recently?

Really? Is the bow tank optional?

The Hudson channel is about 10 miles north of the anclote sandbar or 12 miles north of anclote island. Some charts show it as cow creek???Red marker 2 at entrance.
Diesel is at marina along with bar/restaurant. Easy dockage.

Then I've never been there.

I bought my 58 from a guy who lived on a canal in New Port Richey. He was almost directly behind Anclote Key, but I never ran north of there. We'll see how our time goes, and I'll chart the mileage differences from there vs Clearwater to PC. Personally, I'd like to get as far as we can on Wednesday, then call it a day. Then we can make the Gulf crossing in total daylight.

Based on my last trip, it would seem to waste a lot of time going into Carrabelle as opposed to shooting straight for PC. Seems like by the time you back-track out of the bay, you could almost be in PC.

TRUE.
I never understood the Tarpon to Carrabelle thinking. It is about the same distance from Johns Pass to Apalachicola and you are 40 miles further west. And you have to run 25miles north to Tarpon.

Yeah, I looked at every possible combination of routes before I decided to go for PC two years ago. I'll admit that when we finally got to the point we could see land, I looked on the chartplotter and decided to head for Carrabelle... right up until I saw there was no way to head straight into that place.

Maybe it's a better route if you plan to run the ICW to Destin or wherever, but outside that, I just don't see the advantage.
