  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
58' TRIPLE CABIN (1970 - 1976)
I'm having a heck of a time finding it around here. Last oil change I was able to find Rotella at NAPA, but even they aren't stocking it now. None of the major chain stores carry it, so I was wondering where you guys are getting yours.

Randy,
Go to the truck stops or look in the phone book under "Oils-Lubricating" or "Oils-Industrial". You should find the major distributors or jobbers there.

I just did a quick search and it looks like Rogers Petroleum is the Mobil distributor in TN. You should be able to get Exxon XD3 from them. I have no idea if they have any warehouses close to you, but you might give them a call. Maybe they'd even drop it off you when they have a truck your way.

Thanks Sky, just one of the many joys of living in a small town. Hadn't thought of the truckstop angle, but we have a couple of big ones about 15 miles east on I-40.

Would you or anybody else happen to know the part # for an oil filter for a 12V71N? I'm about 2.5 hours away from the boat and hate to have to run something down in that area as it's even further out in the sticks than I am here.

I don't know the part number you're looking for, sorry.

I did think of one more thing, however. Since you live near I40, just get on the CB radio. The truckers will point you in the right direction. (I assume you have a CB down there in Bubbasville, right?)

Thanks again Sky. Kelso got bought out by Lubricorp, or something to that effect, and they're out a pretty good ways from me now. There was another distributor just 3 miles from me here, but they got bought up too. I called them and they did have Rotella 40W @ $59.29 per 5 gallon pails.

I had forgotten about a little NAPA dealer the next town over, and believe it or not, they had it in stock and are holding 9 gallons for me @ 13.19 per gallon. I had stopped by another NAPA store yesterday, and NAPA only had 6 gallons in their local warehouse here. Walmart used to carry it, but I guess they don't anymore.

That's a big 10-4 good bud... uh, ole' buddy. :D

Checked with Flying J and Petro, and neither had straight 40W. I'll call yottsmanwillie for the part number on the filter if nobody else comes up with it.

Why buy Rotella? The NAPA 75118 seems to spec out better (at least my oil samples test better); just have your local guy order it; they usually can get it the next day. I paid 47 bucks for a 5 gallon pail in Ft. Lauderdale two weeks ago.

I've been told that all Napa branded oil is made by Valvoline. So, what you are getting is probably the Valvoline All Fleet Plus DD. Be careful with the Valvoline product because the names are very similar. The Valvoline All Fleet is a CF4 oil and the All Fleet DD is the CF2. As long as you get the one with the DD at the end you will be fine. It has a sulfated ash content of .79 which is better than the Rotella.

75118 is CF2 and specifically Detroit Diesel kosher. They represent it to be a Valvoline product.

Thanks for the info guys as I'll sure check that out with NAPA. I'm certainly not opposed to saving a few bucks where I can.
