Hatteras Model
43' DOUBLE CABIN (1970 - 1984)
A diver came out today to remove the props off the 43' Tiara docked in front of me..... The props were EATEN....... They were just put on, brand new less than a year ago.... Seems the friend of the owner took the boat down to Jacksonville last Saturday morning ( with a mob onboard) returning in the early evening "at cruise speed" in the ICW and hit a sandbar.....
The owner (who lives in Atlanta) hired a diver to remove the props for repair... But there's not much to fix... The boat had zero zincs when the props were put on and now the props and shafts and who knows what else is bad....

If he's lucky the only damage would be the props. Shafts should be fine but anything close or lower in nobility to the props probably are compromised. I check my zincs regularly. I usually get a full year out of them but still check them at regular intervals.

It gets better.... The boat opposite the Tiara hasn't had it's bottom cleaned in "who knows who long" Know it has a lot of growth on the hull.... I've been here since Aug 2010 and it looked like a salad then, now people could hide in the growth and not be seen... And the people living aboard it see no reason to have it done now as they are "liveaboards", not cruiser or have any intention of cruising.....
