Hello, it seems like we are going through the rudder’s zincs without loosing zinc on the shafts. What does that mean? Any suggestion as to what you would do?

Should I remove the bond to the rudder’s? is it true that the shaft should be isolated from the circuits of the boat?

thanks

Check all your bonds.

Check all your bonds, recently had a rudder eating them quicker than anything else, checked, sure enough the bonding wire had pulled out of an incorrectly sized connector. Replaced the connector (and the other rudders connector which was also undersized) and all is back to normal now.

Also had same issue, but with one rudder eating faster than the other. The problem persisted after I renewed all bonds two or three years back. Ran a new cable to another point, still no joy. Finally tied both rudders together and zinc wear is now about even and acceptable.

The zincs that are the furthest out from the majority of the underwater metal tend to erode fastest.
