  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
58' TRIPLE CABIN (1970 - 1976)
Check out this video and photo of a 58TC in Guntersville, AL. Byron and I were talking to a broker at Gulf Coast about this 58TC over the week-end, and I mentioned that I would like to take a look at it next time he was around there. Looks like it may have escaped major damage, but others weren't as lucky.

HOLY COW!!!! What the heck happened up there? I guess it was a twister, but the second video shows what looks to be a crushed roof section, as if something fell on it. Then the end slip looks like something may have run into it. Does anyone know the story?

I remember the broker said that he is going up there to look at a big Roamer....I wonder if it is the one in the first video??

Unreal!

Looks like by some of the other videos, it was an F3 tornado. That place got tore up pretty bad. Looks like it ran along the shore line.

Definitely a twister. I wonder if that broker knows about this?

Nothing ran into the dock except for that storm. I went by to check on my 58 on the way back from the rendezvous and found some damage to my bimini. Not much damage, just some torn stitching on the first two pockets.

I talked to the guy next to me who lives on his boat, and he told me that he and the other liveaboards were up all night fearing the roofs were going to blow off as the result of some very strong, straight line winds. These were associated with the same storm system that spawned several tornadoes in the area. Needless to say, after looking at those photos and videos, I feel very lucky.

Just talked to the broker today. He heard there were nearly 100mph winds and locals are talking shear instead of a twister, but he was not positive. Luckily, "SHELLEY" had virtually no damage and they are going up to see her in a couple weeks I believe.

You are right Randy, sounds like you got lucky with only a few torn stitches! WHEW!

Hmmmm...Maybe Florida ain't so bad. It sure is warmer in the winter.:)

Yeah, sooner or later, my "luck" with the 58 is going to run out. Have that broker give me a buzz when he confirms that showing. I'd like to see that 58TC even though I understand it's been moved to another marina.

Thanks for sharing that footage- we've been trying to find out about what happened down there in the yacht club- we used to keep our boats at Alred's, a couple of miles away. We heard they were straight line winds, as opposed to a tornado.

Randy- that 58TC is very nice, we had looked at it when we were there and were considering it, however we were (and still are) 2-boat owners and that would have made 3, so timing was not right. Hoping that it did not sustain damage in the storm, that would have been a real shame.
