  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
41' CONVERTBLE-Series I (1964 - 1971)
I've been trying for over a year to get someone to try this......yesterday, we got a wild hair and a volunteer....turns out it works pretty darn well!

So far it looks like the best setup is port tab up, starboard down, with asymetrical engine thrust. Next, we're going to try a few "fat sacks" in the cockpit and perhaps one on the swim platform....

I have watched the dolphins do this for hours.

I have watched the dolphins do this for hours.

He started the same as he would with a wake board, sans bindings, with a rope. Once he's up, and I have the boat/wake "adjusted" he tossed the rope into the cockpit.

He actually got up the first time, and had a good long run, then after a short post-mortem, tried it again, with some additional tweaking, and a lot more speed. He said not to be surprised if I find him sitting on the dock, waiting for me when I get here next time.

This page is work in progress, but here's some more pics: http://www.marineinnovation.com/wake/wakeboat.htm

I've got a couple of short videos that should be up this evening.

Thats way cool !!! We'll hafta have Gator try that next year on the BIG lake. I'm sure glad the 12Ns dont smoke like those turbo models LOL. You shouldve handed your guy the extendable boat brush for a quick scrub down !! ws

I've done that on a surfboard behind a ski boat going really slow (it had perfect pass..."cruise control"). I could set the speed by 0.1 mph so I could set the curl of the wake perfectly.

I got up using a rope and then threw the rope in the boat....I never surfed before!

It's called wake surfing.
