  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
60' MOTOR YACHT (1987 - 1989)
I met their price (all cash), and their 30 day time frame for
Mechanical and Boat Surveys (which I'll need for insurance anyway).

And they won't even respond to my offer, "because he's too far away." ???!!!???

Anybody on the East Coast wanna buy a boat for me, then assign it the day B4 closing?

JeeZus.

(( To be fair [if that's possible], the Sellers are divorcing, and I think Hubby doesn't want to sell...))
(( Then why even put it on the market! ))

Just needed to vent.

Maybe they just don't want more Californians in their area.

Think about the reason so many are coming east.

Did you spend money on the surveys in reliance on their offer of sale?

No.
They won’t respond to the 2d ofr that met their terms.
Just… crickets, and the cryptic response.

Sounds like they are telling you what they will be like to deal with. If you can find another boat, that might be best. Do you have a broker out East?

It may not be about the boat or you as a buyer. A deal on the divorce may be getting worked out, and that's changing the ownership motivation to sell the boat.

If they won’t respond to you when you have cash in hand, how do you think they will respond to questions about the boat afterwards? I’d keep looking.

A friend bought an airplane from a couple going through a divorce later in the divorce the wife’s lawyer came after him claiming she was owed more money. That she was somehow misled into selling even though she signed all the agreements. My friend prevailed but cost him 15k in legal fees. Never get in the middle of a divorce.

Is there a web ad we can view?

I did.
Have an offer in on another one.
Less expensive, more goodies included.
We'll see if it turns out to be a better deal (seems like it) after all.
Went together FAR easier than this one (which never did...).

I think the sellers of the previous boat you mentioned probably did you a favor, albeit without meaning to. Buying a boat is complicated enough without addling all that drama.
