  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
45' CONVERTIBLE-Series II (1984 - 1992)
Am I missing something or does this boat seem to be priced way well to not be sold already. Beautiful refit 54 Bert and asking $189K. Seems like there are a lot of boats not nearly as nice as this one for more money. Does anyone know it, was it a sinker maybe? The only other thing I could see is people that can afford to Maintain and fish this boat often are buying newer more expensive boats, and the guy that can only afford $189K can't afford to run this boat. Am I wrong in that assumption. Fishing Maintaining and running around a 54 ft 12V92 Boat isn't cheap.

Anyway, here it is, enjoy.

The 54 Bertram prices have been soft for a while. I looked at one nicer than this one that was repowered with 3412 Cats and had a custom cherry interior. I could have gotten into that one for around $220K. That was almost 6 years ago too. This one does look like a lot of boat for the money. Don't know the history but someone definitely spent some money on her.

it will burn about 75 to 80 gallons + at 27 knots that alone is a hit and do not thank that is the end all the other stuff has a time limit. Ac, pumps, electronics on and on. Speaking from experience!
Jack it depends on the year of 54 i am sure you will agree.

That's decent economy for a boat that size. I'd bet it would be closer to 100gph at 27kts.

A friend of mine had one a few years ago. 120gph at 26knts.

50gph seems low for that speed and 8V92TAs. My 6V92TAs burned in the high 40s at 2000rpms and I was under propped.

The new wheels made all the diffrence in the world gained about 2 knots to about 2.5 knots and fuel burn went down about 7 gallons per hour. i do not know how exact the fuel burn is but i can read the gps speed.

Just looked at the fuel curves and was surprised the fuel burn for a 735HP 8V92TA is only 25gph at 2000 RPMs.

Tim, what were the old wheels and what are the new wheels that make such a difference?

the old wheels were reneche Italian made heavy as they could be they were tuff you could plow tobaccow with then. They were three bladed and had the three wheel wobble bad.I do not want to remember them if you want them come get them. Do not ask the size.
The new ones are veem 4 bladed 32x32 7 thousands of cup. Like Toney the tiger GRATE! Like all other boat stuff get your pocket book out.
I give a lot of the credit to WILDCAT PROPELLERS in Chesapeake VA in my book they are the best they hit mine on the head the first time around......

Tim,
Did you get the veems with that interchangeable "pitch strip"? A few years ago I switched out 4 bladed michigans for 5 bladed veems. I did not get the pitch strips and wondered if I missed anything. I did not get the performance increase that you did. I picked up a little better hole shot, some smoothness, and about t a knot better. I am happy with the veems and didn't find their cost that much different than michigans. I got mine from black dog.
