I "kinda" took on the USS Nimitz in the late 90's when heading offshore on a fishing trip in a center console (it was in my way). Also kinda seems I got too close to it and they had to stop launches, so what the pilots were on their way to their families (hey, I was going fishing !)...
I got a kick out it,as I hadn't planned or expected that (my buddy didn't ,he was ex Navy and kept saying we were in trouble)...
So 10 mins later a twin prop flew just over us.... Say about 40' above us.. And dumped fuel ALL OVER US.....
Boy does that stuff stink and stick.....
So now I KNOW better than to mess with the Navy nor will I mess with that yacht....

I was on the West Side Highway yesterday and saw Eclipse, thinking it was the biggest charter yacht I've ever seen and wondering what company could afford to charter it. And to think one man owns that. It's an incredible looking vessel. the lines are as clean as a Ferrari. I don't know beans about the man, but his boat and money are welcome in NYC.

Wait a minute. Why can this guy, who's not even a citizen, show up in NYC with missle batteries on a boat and Bloomberg has nothing to say about it. But if a US citizen wants a gun in NYC then it's a major issue and should be denied! Also is his girlfriend, not even wife, going to get citizenship for the little bastard child because he will be born in the US? Seems that would be a great way to spy....pack a boat like that full of electronic surveillance equipment and just park it where ever you want. All the politicians will bend over for you because your an 'oligarch'! Makes me sick. What's next the new Chinese/Russian aircraft carrier for a visit? You and I can't even possess anything 'missile' let alone put one on our boats. Government to the highest bidder! Sorry for the rant.

The kid will be a US citizen. I was wondering about the missile thing myself. I guess if you have enough money and power the rules are different. So Bloomberg will allow you to bring your missiles to NYC but you can't super size your soda. So glad we have him to protect us from ourselves. I wonder if they have to check in and claim their missiles when they go to the Bahamas. Do they do a missile count when they leave?

I looked into anti-missile defenses after initially reading the 'eclipse' link and I still haven't found anything that leads me to believe a missile can be 'interrupted' in its flight by anything other than another missile. If you do have missiles then its the guidance software that tells it what to do and we all know how little space software can take up. Maybe those missiles can be offensive too? He already has plenty of radar on board I'm sure. Not trying to go conspiracy here just the double standard is very irksome. What arsenal does his security staff have? What do I think a boat like that may listen for if parked in NYC? Maybe financial. Somehow I don't think a guy like that considers the money and power he has to be enough. Ok I guess I'm going conspiracy.

I was going to post the same thing, but I considered that missile defense system could be missiles to defend the ship or one to defend the ship against missiles. There are lots of way missiles can be stopped or, more likely, mis-directed. So I'm holding off on a similar rant. That being said, I don't disagree with yours or with the observations about Bloomie's elitism and hypocrisy.
