  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
42' CONVERTIBLE (1971 - 1978)
Hello, its time to run a new line to my salon AC. The full load amps for heat is 15.5 at 115 vac. There is a 20 amp breaker in the panel for this unit. My question is the wire size required to power the unit. It is less than 30' but does run through the engine space. All internet searching has been fruitless. I think #12 awg will be enough but I need to be sure.

Thanks

#12 is good for 20 amps. Your correct.

Thanks, hard to find anything. Most charts are dealing with DC which make the wire size very large. 50' #10 shore cord is approved for 30 amps so I was hoping #12 would work.

As a marine electrician I also agree with 12. John

Thanks for affirming my choice in wire size.
