Hi All,
Haven’t had the time to post anything in quite awhile, been busy with boat things in our all too short season in Michigan. This winter while the boat is on the hard I got a few winter “projects” to do. My list and I will keep it just to the engine room is as follows, pulling the intercoolers, cleaning and painting, remove OEM air canisters and replacing with some K & N filters and installing Racor CCV system. Removing the injectors from the generator and sending them in to be tested and replaced as necessary. I changed all the fluids before it was hauled with the exception of the AF. I’m sure as I go through the process of things items I will have several questions which I will post. Which brings me to my original question, for those that have to haul out during Hockey season what projects do you have going? Small ones, big ones or just visit the boat once twice this winter and start back on it in the spring.

Also can somebody tell me how to post pictures here, tried a couple of times and they just seem to go into cyberspace never to be found again

Thanks
Chris

Hi Chris,
I have a few projects myself. I have my guys making a new prop-puller and cutlass bearing pusher right now. After they get done with that, I will be replacing cutlass bearings. I also have all of the stuff to refurbish my sliding window tracks. The other project involves new battery disconnects, wiring my inverter and new battery boxes. Of course, as you know, one thing leads to another so I'm sure the list will grow as I get into it. The good thing for me is that my dad has a condo that is actually attached to the storage building where the boat is stored. I take the whole family for the weekend and the work actually turns into fun for the whole crew.

Good luck on your projects. If you need any pointers on the CCV's, let me know. I just installed mine this spring.

Sky,
Yea I am sure I will need you help on several issues that I got going. Got one question right now. One of my props has small dents in three of the four blades. How hard are they to get off and where in MI do you send yours for repairs? I was reading that thread about putting them back on but do I have to “lapp” the prop if it goes right back on after the repair?

Chris,
The props come off very hard. I used a big gear puller last time and I still had to heat them to get them off. That is why I'm making my own puller this time.

After you get them off, take them to Wolverine in Detroit. They are the PropScan shop. I think they will even pick them up if you call them.

Then, after you get them back you should lap them in when you put them back on. This is easy, especially if they are the same ones that just came off. Go to the auto parts store and get a tube Prussian Blue and a tube of valve grinding compound. It costs less than $10 for the two. That is all you will need.

I will be getting mine off soon, so if the puller works well and I have mine done, you are welcome to borrow it. I will let you know how it goes. You do have 2" shafts, right? The way I am making this it will only work for that shaft size.

Thanks Sky, I am not sure on the shaft size, but I think you are correct. The prints are all on the boat and I will check them to be sure and I will definitely take you up on your offer.

Hi Sky
Would you be interested in renting out your prop puller and bearing pusher when you are finished doing yours.
Chris

Chris,
I will see how well it works and then I will let you know. I think Chris Piazza is first on the list, though. So, if we get both of our 53's done, then you can be next. If it works as well as I think it should, I have no problem with letting others use it, as long as I get it back in a reasonable amount of time. You know how it is, I just wouldn't want to lose track of it or not be able to find it when I need it again.
