Does anyone know what the bolts that go through the bottom frame of the front windshield are attached to? Is it an embedded plate or are there nuts on the other end? I have several that can not be tightened and the gap between the windshield and the cabin roof seems to be getting a little wider. I'm hoping to avoid taking down the headliner, but that may not be possible.

Thanks

bill,
I was looking at mine today, 34DC and it looks like they are screwed into a wooden frame behind the outer layer of fiberglass. I haven't pulled mine yet, but you may also want to look at the lower part of your windshield to see if you have moisture and maybe some wood turning loose there as well. All being said and done, don't look like the gap should be getting wider at the top unless something is going on at the bottoms. From what I saw today I may have to do some repair work at the bottoms of my windows when I do pull them due to the sweating that has run down the windows into the wood frames.

Thanks for the feedback. I know they are bolts (not screws) because I took several of them out when I refinished the windshield frames. There are about twelve bolts in total, four in each of the three windshield frame bottom sections. It's the four that are closest to the port center that are no longer tightening down.

I know that some bolts that fasten deck fitting go into a plate that is embedded in the fiberglass. Others go into bolts. If these free-turning windhield bolts go into an embedded plate, then I will probably have to go to a larger bolt and re-thread the hole. If they go into nuts on the other side of the fiberglass, the likely solution is to pull downh the salon headliner to get at the nuts.

I was hoping someone on the forum would have observed how they are fastened on the 43 DCMY, perhaps when replacing a headliner, and could tell me which way to go.

I'm still looking for help on this. I've got to believe someone out there has replaced a salon headliner on a 43' DCMY and seen how the windshield bolts are fastened through the salon roof. Anybody?

Thanks
