Windshield Wipers

On my 53 the starboard windshield wiper will not auto-park like the other two when I shut them off. Anybody have an idea what could cause that?

I have not had them apart, but there must we a switch of some sort in the circuit.

I only have the one switch, which controls all 3 wipers. But reading up on wiper parking mechanisms, it looks like there probably is a small switch inside the wiper motor enclosure, which I guess I'll have to look into.

There is usually a switch that cuts the power when the motor shaft is in the park position- and not until then. I don't know if the 53MY windscreen wiper motors are rebuildable, but given that they are 32vdc and probably expensive to replace, they might be candidates for an overhaul. Sam's can tell you what brand they are, if they are still around as replacements, and if there is an overhaul kit for them or new internal switches.

The motors are still available from Sam's. The "wiper" category lists 112 items but I do not see a switch or any replacement parts that specifically call this out. However, this is worth a phone call to Sam's. They will know if the switch assembly for the wiper motor is available etc. No other boatbuilder that I know of has this kind of support, especially for boats this old.

Yeah, give Sam's a call in NC they seem to be exert on all things windshield wiper; were a big help to me when I was updating some stuff.

Thanks for the advice guys. That was my next move as I have been dealing with Sam's lately on some other stuff, so I'll ask Steve if he has any ideas, when placing my next order.
