I know someone has come up with a great product or solution for cleaning windows and getting them spot free. I've tried many things, but can never seem to get all the spots and streaks out. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I haven't found anything in a spray bottle that gets the mineral spots off. I use Collinite Cleaner, comes in a white bottle, same product I use to clean the hull prior to buffing and/or polishing. It's a thick liquid with an extremely mild abrasive that gets the mineral spots off without dulling the glass. Makes them sparkle. I do the windows with an electric polisher when I do the entire boat, then by hand about once per month after that. If someone else has an easier solution, I sure hope they share it.

I find the Magic Eraser products work well at getting deposits off followed by a good cleaning.

Thanks guys. I have the Collinite and the magic eraser. Guess I'll have to do a test for both. Maybe we'll get some other suggestions to try.

I use very hot water with a good dose of ammonia in it. Cleans like a charm.

We mostly use just plain water. The secret is to use a "miracle cloth". We use them for everything now.
..Great product. Windows come clean with no streaks. Painted fiberglaass does too. Great for washing
dishes also.
Try it, you'll love it.:)

Maynard, what is a miracle cloth?

I'll also take a look at Sprayway.

Light rubbing compound and a buffer works well buff till dry and whipe off works well every time

After cleaning salt water spots off for years, somebody finally told me just to use 50% vinegar and 50% distilled water and only clean COTTON towels, washed with no fabric softner. WOW! Works great on glass, no streaks and cheap!

We're just talking about cleaning windows, here, right??? You guys are making this way more complicated than it is. White vinegar is the key ingredient that takes the water spots away. I make my own "Windex" with water, a little ammonia and a healthy dose of white vinegar.

Your all doing it wrong.

get 3 cases of the cheapest beer you can find. leave it in a cooler on the back deck and the neighbors will get drunk and break your windows. Then the new one you get will be cleaned from the installers.

I dont know why everyone makes so much work out of it.

Bottoms up..

ok. I started this thing...now I have to go out and buy cheap beer. Guess that is cheaper than these expensive chemicals---LOL.

Four cups distilled water, two cups white vinegar, and a FEW drops of dawn dish soap. Apply with windshield washer/scrubber like you see at gas stations. Use a good rubber squeegee - you can get a stainless steel and "streak free" rubber 12 inch one for under $10.00 at a hardware/building supply store. Use horizontal strokes - top to bottom and then wipe with a clean cotton rag dampend slightly with distilled water only.

Sprayway on the insides and "streak free" paper towels (no softeners) if you can find them.

A lot of great ideas if your windows are in good shape. BUT what if your windows have been neglected and are "etched" so to speak and will not polish out, rub out, or just clean up with the simple home remedies. The "Magic Eraser" doesn't work in this situation. And I can't find the cheap beer to get the guys drunk.

Now what say you.

Ask your wife...This is the latest craze and is available at drug stores, grocery stores, auto zone
etc. They are colored, usually yellow or purple, and look like a wash cloth like you may have in the shower. Ah, but alas, they are made from some new miracle fibre, and really work very well. They take the place of a chamois and are 200% better.
