I'm out in my 37C with the anchor down and my windless will not operate. The solenoid has power, but the windless doesn't show signs of life. I have attached some picture. I'm not sure what the small black lever on the side does, maybe someone can tell me. I think it's causing the windless not to turn.

I believe the black lever is spring loaded and holds the anchor line firm to the capstan. On top of the windlass is a socket for manually raising and lower the anchor. You'll have to find the wrench that came with the windlass. Sorry your issue is probably not the black lever.

Lucky,

Yes, the black thing is spring loaded and it keeps the rode in the capstan. If you can hear the solenoid clock then your control circuit is probably fine. The power circuit is controlled by that solenoid. There should be a larger fuse or breaker on the power side. Check that first. Also check the connections. Just last week my windlass didn't work and I had to tighten the connection on the breaker. Also check the connections on the motor. If you have a voltmeter you can put the probes on the windlass motor terminals, then actuate the switch. If you read voltage at the terminals and motor still doesn't run, you may have a bad motor.

Yes, thanks I think I'll try to get voltage at the windless motor. I do have a breaker in the ER, feels really weak. Was not as hard as I thought it was going to be to pull the anchor up by hand, have no clue where I might have place the wrench. Another project.. I'm getting to know this boat.
Thanks,
