Hello all,
I want to remove my original Galley Maid BBHW windlass and replace it with a new all chain remote operated unit. I have the motor, nuts below deck, and capstan as well as the small (3" dia + or -) bronze collar with small springs off, but that is as far as I got. Can anyone guide me on how to continue removing the entire windlass?
I began prying the chain gypsy or wildcat as some call it, and it's not budging. Is there a pin, clip, set screw or something else I'm missing? Or do I use a sledge persuader? It works great and the 24V motor/gear case has no rust, so I thought to sell it to offset the cost of the new Maxwell I plan to install in it's place. I just don't want to destroy it ..........
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, JJ Gar.
