Boatsb is in this area today and would like to meet any members who are in the area, lunch , drinks etc.
Post back and I will let him know.

Several of us from the Gulf Coast Hatteras Rendezvous still have our boats here at The Wharf in Orange Beach which is about a 45 minute drive from Ft Walton.

This weekend is the big Blue Angels Air Show in Pensacola and we are going to have a raft-up to watch the show so if Scott is still around I highly recommend it. It is a HUGE boating event! Thursday the Blue Angels practice, Friday the entire show is practiced and Saturday is the main event.

Me. Live in Niceville, 10-15 minutes from Destin, 30 from Ft. Walton.

Will drive over to meet folks after work if you're in the area and have suggestions if you need 'em.

Ah man, I'd love to see the Blue Angels again. Funny, the wife called and says she wants to get out of town for a few days (alone) and I've been checking on gulf front stuff for her. Maybe I should volunteer to drive her down to Navarre Beach and bum a ride with you guys to watch the show.

OK, I just booked a condo on Navarre Beach, and me and the boy are coming with mama! In fact, we'll head out late this afternoon, spend the night someplace, and be in Navarre sometime tomorrow around noonish. I'll call Scott and let him know we've got an extra bed if he needs it.

Thanks for mentioning the Blue Angles Byron, this is all your fault! I realize I'm inviting myself to this boat thing, but if there is an invitation from anyone to be had, I'll gladly accept. Just tell me when and where. Oh yeah, me and the boy come as a package, and maybe mama will want to come too.

Randy if you are coming don't forget that I owe you a tour of Mambeaux and you owe me a vodka drink. :)

That sounds like an invitation to me! I'll give you a call later. :D

Just got off the phone with Scott and he's there for today only. Sounds like he's a busy boy and has more appointments closer to home tomorrow.

Oh jeez, what have I started? ;)

So Byron, who else is coming besides bigbill and Mambeaux?

Randy, those are the only Hatt's that I know for sure are going to the show.

I'm all booked up otherwise I'd be out there with ya' :(

Where do you'all plan to raftup?

Hey Greg, wanna bareboat charter your 45 for a few hours?

Hey guys, all kidding aside, would we be able to see this show from the Navarre/Pensacola Beach area?

I'm sure traffic would be an absolute nightmare if we tried to get anywhere near the base. Any suggestions on the best viewing spots that may be less congested?

Randy, as I understand it Pensacola beach is an excellent place for viewing and many people spend the day at the beach to watch the show. Many boats anchor outside off Pensacola beach for the show as long as the seas are not too bad. There is a water tower on Pensacola beach that is supposedly what the pilots use as the center of the show. Anywhere around there would have to be excellent viewing.

Thanks Byron, I did some searching and found out this wasn't on base as the practice was that we watched last year. Jack told me the road between Navarre Beach and Pensacola Beach had recently re-opened, so that will make things MUCH easier. You guys probably already know about all this, but I'll post the link anyway.

This IS the P'Cola Beach Air Show. The show at the base is called The Homecoming Show and it is in November.
Randy drive west from Navarre and try to park in the Beach Ball parking lot.
You will be front row center!

....And be crushed by the crowd and the last to leave.

There are only two ways out of there, across the 3 mile bridge to Pensacola (always backed up) and the skinny road back to Navarre.
