When it gets colder than 40 degrees my engine billows a cloud of white smoke during engine start.
Any solution to the above problem.
During warmer temps no trace of white smoke, during start and ops of the engine.
 
Yes, block heaters you can use in winter will resolve that issue. Otherwise this is pretty normal for diesel engines of all varieties in cold temperatures.
 
Block heaters and holding down the stop button for a few seconds while cranking. Dry cranking for a few seconds warms the cylinders up a little before it starts dumping in fuel. Uncombusted fuel from cold cylinders = smoke.

Even then, I still check the wind and look up and down the dock to make sure the coast is clear before firing mine up.
