Hatteras Model
53' CONVERTIBLE (1969 - 1980)
For those of you that like Google Earth and have it on their machines if you click on the link you will see my home, the track I follow every weekend to the marina and the point where my bow is at anchor. Unfortunately the detailed maps end just at the middle of were my boat would be. The track begins slightly displaced at my house but is a google calibration error. You can zoom out and see Morrocoy Nat'l Park. And if you come and I am not at the boat, follow the track and you will find me at the end of it.

Now don't be shy and show your places

Miguel

Hmmm..it's just an image - not interactive. I need to play with it a bit more.

Let's try again...

Arrrrgggg. Still just an image.....

I'll come back and play when I have more time

This is a long view, but it shows my marina between Lambs and Huckins (the one with only one dock with 21 slips) with Jacksonville and the St Johns River in the backround..

You can zoom in close enough to actually read the name on the transom...

no luck.......

Rick, you can zoom on the picture using the zoom tool on the upper right hand. It is not like an aerial photograph but you can see an amazing amount of detail, there is even a small dinghy close where Aguamala Too is moored.

Mike, got it !! really cool, now I just need to figure a way to get a job there. Fantastic views. I'm no fan of Bush so I should I fit in fine. Rick

how do you copy your lat/long from google earth to post?

Hahaha...it took me some time trying to get it too....
Let me post how I got the interactive link. I don't know if there is a better way but this is how I did it.
Go to:
http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/map?form=googleearth

Fill the time offset time in the box. (-4, in my case)
On the right, go to the "Upload your GPS data..." and Browse to find the file where you have the track you wish to show.
Go to the next file and Browse again to find the file with the waypoints you want to see.
On "Waypoint options" select the icon you want.
Click on "Create KML file"
You will get a long name "xxxxxyyyyyy.kml".
When you click on the link it will authomatically open Google Earth and go to the appropiate location you want to post.
Of course you need to have Google Earth installed, which you can download and install for free at :
http://earth.google.com/download-earth.html
And this is it.
Hope it helps

Miguel

Rick, you came in while I was posting an answer to Passages. As you can see in that post, to obtain the link file you don't even need to have GE opened. Just use GPSVisualizer and your real life waypoint and track files, that you use with your GPS. You can save them with a different name and delete all the information, except for whatever you want to post. You can use any text editor for this, like Notepad, Wordpad, etc...
To see that link once obtained you do need GE.
If you don't have any files I am sure GE lets you do it, but I have not done it. I'll have a look at it and if I find how to do it I will tell, ok?
And well...you will escape from Bush and will fall into Chavez...don't know what is worse. Fuel is cheap though.
