  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
58' YACHT FISHERMAN (1970 - 1981)
A friend of mine who owns a 1986 "wide-beam" model 58 Hatteras Motor Yacht was curious about what they were going for? Checked around, and noticed there aren't any of these 58s on the market right now, but Nine 56s available. Does anyone know what happened to the 58s?

There are usually about a dozen of them, and maybe a half dozen 56s available at any given time over the past couple of years. Where did they go? What did they sell for?

Can anyone help solve this mystery?

Also, I just noticed that 1981 Hatteras 64 Motor Yacht in North Palm Beach, (the one with the ghastly decor), has just been reduced from $409,000 ask to $379,000 ask. WOW!

My research would suggest that there were perhaps just under 30 of the series II 58 MY's built. If at any given point you would typically expect that 10% of a model's production run could be for sale, in build numbers below of a popular model like the 58 II, all bets are off. If I'm off on the total number of these built, someone please correct me on that info.

There was a nice one for sale here locally in Md. but the marketing did not yield an offer that was acceptable to the owner, so she was taken off the market. I was aboard one at the Palm Beach show several years ago that had a gray shear stripe. She was reported to have had recent rebuilds and I thought the boat showed pretty well. As I recall she sold at the show or soon after for under $250K.

There is an absolutely beautiful wide beam 56' Hat for sale here in the Detroit area. Look for it in YW for sale by South River Marine. I was impressed for certain. I have never seen a cleaner or nicer interior, engine rooms, or exterior on any boat. Well equipped, fresh water always, and low hour engines...What else could one possibly want. I can't afford to own a boat that big or I would grab it. I just can't stop drooling though.:)

Maynard - not sure that the Detroit boat is the same one, but there is 56 wide body via Skipper Buds in Marblehead, OH. I have a 10 year knowledge of that boat and its a cream puff (it was a friends boat that they traded earlier this year and have no financial interest in it anymore). Boat name is Eidelon. I believe its a 1981, and believe that the motors were majored at purchase by the PO, new paint (waterline+), professionally decorated. Owner probably put 5 hours a year on it in the past 5 years...
