There, that looks better. Stern decals on order, fortunately what's there is also decal so a blow dryer and a plastic razor blade should take them off. New ones ordered the same size to try and minimize noticing any fading from old name.

Did you use a SS wood screw? If so what size screws? Did install any spacers behind it so water won’t get trapped?

It was there before, the name was painted and I had to take it down to bare wood. It's a SS coarse thread oval head screw, guessing 1-3/4" There's a conical countersunk ss washer under the head and between the board and the boat. So yes there's air there. Still, the paint has some zits from the last few decades. Trying not to hit it with the hose.
