I'm calling these skirt panels, what is the proper term I'm looking for (see pic). What is the proper caulk to use to repair the bottom edge of these panels that's coming apart. This probably wants to be done all around (star, aft, port sides0

I have used 3Ms 4000 UV caulk on mine there. It's like 5200 except UV resistant for where sunlight can get to it, and it's fast cure. However, I really wonder if I should make or leave some open holes for water to get out since the toerail is canted out there so water will run off if there's no panel, but with a caulked panel the water can collect there (until I plane it and it all runs back.

I think the proper term is "dodger board" or "weather board". As far as caulk, I like the 3M 4000 as well.

Ditto on the 4000 UV. You need something decorative that doesn't yellow or crack. White silicone would also work, but any painter that has to get near your dodger boards in the future will cuss you in a dozen languages because it's next to impossible to get silicone residue totally removed.

4000 is the answer but the real challange is getting a fresh tube of the stuff. I have had to return more 4000 than any other caulk. When you get everything ready, open the tube, and the caulk is like rubber, the ability to return it doesn't make me feel any better. I try to buy the small tubes if I don't need too much. I also open the tube at the checkout counter. If it is partly cured I won't buy it. Most stores will let you do that. This would be a bit more complicated if you are buying a tube for a caulking gun.

I use 4000 anywhere the sun shines and 4200 everywhere else. I only use 5200 when I have had too much to drink. I usually regret both later.:)

4000 it is then for the Dodgerboard
