  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
63' COCKPIT MY (1985 - 1987)
This outlet is on my flybridge. I was expecting a standard receptacle and found this. Anybody know what it's for? I haven't checked the voltage yet but I think I can read 125V on the face. outlet.webp

Can’t tell if it’s big enough, but the configuration is of a 30 amp 125 volt power cord.

Truth is, you just never know. I found a similar outlet on the 45C I bought a couple years ago. It had no power to it, but I traced the wires to a jury rigged breaker panel box. Everything indicated 120v AC. I tested it and found 12v. Nothing was properly wired to the outlet. Needless to say, I eliminated the whole mess.

The receptacles look like 15 Amp twist locks. We used to use them with ceiling mounted outlets for overhead lights to keep the cord ends from falling out.

Could yours have been power for electric reels?

I have an outlet on the flybridge of my motor yacht, it’s a standard outlet however, it’s 24V. What could a standard outlet wired for 24volt on the flybridge of a motor yacht be used for, any ideas? I’m not trying to steal the thread, but I have been curious, and this reminded me of it.

One of my old hats had those on the fly bridge and there was an old hand held spot light that had the male plugs to match. It was wired for the low voltage side.

I’ll confess I have the same twist lock receptacles in my cockpit for the deep drop rigs. 12v. Check the voltage first.

I have one on the fly bridge, it’s 32volt . I am going to convert it to 120 v ac and use the 32 volt for lights under the fly bridge.
