What are the standard Props for a 53MY

What are the standard props for a 53MY with 8/71 naturals???? I have a set of 28/28/2 and 28/25/2 but don't think either of these was the standard sise ( I have a key that doesn't work on the computer guess which one) . Any help would be great . Or if anyone has had great luck with a particular sise. Thanks, Ron

I'm not sure about the naturals, but the 8v71ti and 6v92ta 53's came with 28x32's. Even with those wheels they were slightly overpropped even when new. I'm now running 28x28.5's

Our boat is a '72 53MY with 8v71 naturals, owner's manual calls out 28"x26", 4 blade, 2" shafts.

That is correct - your 53MY left the factory with Michigan bronze 28 x 26 four blade props with 2" shaft bore.

I recall 28" x 26" four blade props being quoted in other discussions ..

My lighter 1972 48 HATT YF came with 28" x 32" four blade props and she was overpropped by about 150 RPM during the 11 years I owned her. ..that seems much to much pitch for a 53ft....

I believe our specs on a 1969 53' MY, is 28 x 28 on 2' shafts. I have an extra set of props in the forward v berth, that are Mich 28 x 28 also. Our power is 8V71 Naturals....
