Westerbeke Gen Oil

I'm looking for recommendation on which oil to use in the Westerbeke 10.0 BTDA Generator. The spec is stated as: "CF or CG-4, SAE 30, 10W-30, 15W-40". I am familiar with the oil discussions for our mains but could not locate much on this subject. PO didn't leave any records of what had been unsed in the past so I am looking for a recommendation that I can live with going forward.

For 48 years, for both Onan and Phasor generators, I have used the same oil which is used in my Detroit Diesel engines (and transmissions). Back in 1966 this was a straight 30 weight oil. DD changed their recommendations to 40 weight a few years later. DD does not recommend multi-weight oils, however. I have never had a problem and this cuts boat clutter.

If my generator was new and covered by a warranty I suppose I might use the recommended brand until the period ran out.

Rotella 15W-40 ought to be fine. Also available just about everywhere.

I used 30 wt in the same gen, same as main engines and no problems.
