  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
41' TWIN CABIN (1965 - 1971)
Hello all, jumped in and bought a 41TC, it's pretty decent, chryslers, 6.5 MCCK. Bought it pretty much on pics alone, and an old survey! I've owned a few boats in my time, I'm pretty excited about getting this one straightened up and back in the water, it was in Erie last in 2013, "sweet life" it was listed with Pier 53 for some time, anybody happen to know the boat? This site has been very helpful this far, didn't know these had fiberglass fuel tanks, survey listed that one has been replaced, looks like that is soon to be two... I think some interior work over the winter and a good going over of the mechanicals and a fresh coat of bottom paint and I might be in business, I hope! Ok, couple of questions, the hard top and windshield needs to come off for transport, anyone ever taken on off? Weight? What things specific to this model need attention while its out of the water? What kind of problematic things are there ? Thanks in advance for your help

Be very careful not to use ethanol gas in the fiberglass tank. This will melt the resin to such a fine extent that the fuel filters will not stop the particles from going into the engines and destroying them. I had a 1963 34SC that had new tanks installed before I purchased her. My new to me 1987 40 DCMY was new enough to have used different resin so no problems. Welcome to the world of Hatteras!
