Replaced our midship split system with a Webasto self contained recently…. Removed 3 knob and replaced with suppled Webasto controller, easy install…

Why would you even want to keep the 1960s controls!! New self contained come with their controls anyway. Sure the new ones won’t fit the holes, but you can easily mount them on a teak or mahogany plate

When I installed new standalone units in Pau Hana, I mounted the new T-stats that came with the units in place of the original Crusair ones. For the master, I made a plate using a thin piece of wood stained and rounded since the original one left ugly holes in the wall.

Seems best to use new controller
Has anybody put a self contained ac unit in mid stateroom of a 1980s 53
If so where were the cooling water piped routed

On my earlier 53, the mid sr ac was on top of the closet right against the ER bulkhead making it very easy to run hoses from the ER

I now have the master chiller air handler in that location since I tore down the master closet and combined both SRs
