Hatteras Model
32' FLYBRIDGE FISHERMAN (1983 - 1987)
I was shook this morning at 2am to find my wife trying to explain to me (at this not so cohearant time) that its time to goto the hospital! Looks as though we are digging in for the long haul! Hopefully we'll have our first son to add as a crew to our Hat!

Better get off of the computer for the moment....sure I'll get in trouble for being on Sams while I'm at the Hospital. I'll keep you all posted!

Congrats, and good luck!

K:)

Best of luck! Boy or girl, the Hatt will always have room for one more crew member.

Your wife is in labor and you are posting on a Boating web forum between contractions???

You sound like me.
Congrats, we had our son on board at 3 weeks of age. He's now 15 and boating is in his blood.

Always great to hear of another Hatt crewmember coming into the world.

It's amazing that the smaller the kid, the more "stuff" that is needed when going somewhere......

The contractions gave me five minutes to post. I figured I could write a line or two in that amount of time.

She just got the epidoral and went from being in utter pain to feeling like a girl ready for a night out on the town.
ow to post picture
I have to figure out how to post pictures...

If I'd posted a picture of my wife during labor my kid would have grown up without a father. :)

Congratulations and good luck. I've been through the childbirth thing.... it's not for the faint-of-heart. And I only had to watch! I don't know how women do it. BTW, they shut that epidural off by the time she actually delivers.

HUGE CONGRATS !!
Boy or girl, I wish you and them health and happiness.

My son was born on Sept 15th (almost 19 yrs ago) ... he did a boatride around Shelter Island before the boat was hauled for winter.
However, my Mom and Dad were less than thrilled with my little cruise with their new grandchild !!

Congrats, and prayers that all goes well. I was given the blessing of watching my daughter being born, with the doctor doing most of the work, although I did get to cut the cord. What an experience! She's almost 21 now, but it seems like yesterday. Enjoy them while they're little and cuddly, cuz it doesn't last long...

A friend once said 'It's good they grow to become teenagers, otherwise you'd want to keep them forever.'

Same here!

Congratulations!

Congratulations Jack, the more the merrier on the boat.

Congrats! Hope all went well. The dedication of the people on this site always amazes me. Even though most of us haven't met it is such an honor to enjoy these moments with friends.

Wow! Lots of really personal responses. I'm sure I can't another boating site that that would be as great as this on in many ways.

So the story...The water broke at 2am and we were on our way to the hospital by 3am (after feeding our zoo of 11 animals and making sure everything was loaded into the car.) Up until about 10am they monitored the usual vitals and noticed that during the contractions the baby's heart rate decreased to as low as 85 from the usual 135-140. The doctor said if this didn't improve by 11-12pm we would be in for an emergency c-section. Well the "dips" as they called them did not go away and we were in the operating room almost immediately.

After 10 minutes of being in the operating room we heard the screams of our 7lb 8oz baby boy. Birthtime was 12:57pm. The doctors were awesome and really great to let me tape just about anything I wanted to...I of course opted out of taping the procedure but me cutting the cord, him getting cleaned up and weighed ect was all taped. I had a couple of pictures too! I can't say enough good about the staff. They are top notch!

They baby is healthy and so far neither he or Mom has had any complications. (Well the baby did have such bad gas last night that he scared the nurse when it let loose! Following in my footsteps already.)

I'm gonna try to post a picture at some point....when I figure it out. Non-x-rated of course. I've had about 3hrs of sleep over the last 3 days...the first time I was too tired to think about the hat...believe it or not. I'm sure I'll be planning my first ride with him on the boat...and with Mom of course! I'm sure my Dad is itching to get out too.

NYrussel...I may take you up on that if you think they'll fit him. (email jrs8818@msn.com to let me know what and when.) Thanks for the generosity! We do have the Hatteras coveralls, which I'd like to put on him for his picture I want to post and maybe his first ride on the boat!

This entire thing has been awesome so far, except for the sleepless part of course. (I now have 3 changed diapers on my record!)

I'll keep things updated as much as possible.

Jackman,

Awesome, been there awhile back. No car accident on due date so you are ahead of me LOL. As soon as we find the jacket we will get it on the way. Also, lot's of worn once baby clothes out there. See if your friends have some lying around. (So far we have only bought 2 pairs of shoes LOL). Send me a pm when you catch up a bit on sleep.

Also, get the kid on the water soon. A Hatteras is a great boat to raise a kid on (we are doing so).

Noel

Bill check your math. I think there is a spare kid somewhere.

Egads,
I had my wife "spaded" after our second litter......

That way I can keep count.... one boy, one girl....

I fully understand how trojan could of lost count having nine.

But somehow, "trojan" seem to remind me of a male protective covering...
